  1. Yes, Male is 528 yards south of the loop.:walk:
  2. All four schools are inside the Watterson Expressway loop so the geography isn't that crazy. X, H and M have been in the same athletic district for a long long time.
  3. I would say the Defense, or lack thereof, has been way more disappointing than the QB play. Season isn't over yet. Is X still running a 3-4 scheme? Seems not to be working well and I don't believe they can't find 11 guys who can tackle and cover.
  4. Mr. Quick is a nightmare to defend, as is Trinity's offense in general. Triple team and then Dawkins goes bananas. I must say, I would prefer to play tight bump coverage on Quick and force Travis to throw the ball the downfield, or at least show that coverage once in a while and disguise what we're really doing which is praying that the snap is fumbled.
  5. Gotta love AL's confidence...he's anticipating so much Male scoring that X fans will be annoyed with his constant outbursts of support. I think you will be fine sitting wherever you please.
  6. No way Jose. This game will be a beatdown, worse than regular season.
  7. Not to be petty, but could the school board have maybe gotten a little more original with the naming of the new school? The two largest public schools in Nelson County both have "Nelson" as their main moniker. Just saying.
  8. You might have better luck asking St.X, I recall they let Central practice there to prepare for playoffs when their field was saturated.
  9. Many of us like to see in-state kids play for our favorite in-state college. If that is "foolishness", my apologies. I never like to act or speak "foolishly". In any event, I'm happy for Dawson--he's an absolute beast. I saw him singlehandledly beat Trinity in a freshmen game out at Butler a few years ago. But, had he chosen to play at UK or UL (even with offers from schools like USC on the table) I don't agree that such a decison would have been "foolish". USC is not ranked in the top 25. USC also produced OJ Simpson (murderer) and more recently Reggie Bush (cheater). Lane Kiffin, loyalty? Making a college selection involves consideraton of more than just a school's football tradition. Former Trinity star linebacker Jordan Whiting accepted a scholarship at Ohio State. He's now a redshirt sophmore playing special teams mostly. Ohio State is now embroiled in an ongoing NCAA investigation and lost their head coach. Whiting is a good student and Ohio State may have been the best academic fit for him. Some kids desire immediate playing time beyond special teams. These kids put a lot of time and effort into football, some get frustrated when they don't get an opportunity to play early.
  10. I disagree. I think you are underestimating Coach Strong's recruiting ability. The program is down, but it wasn't too many years ago that they had a legitimate shot at playing for a national championship. Kids that have grown up in Louisville and been a lifelong fan might want to be a part of the resurgence of UL football. Coach has shown this year a willingness to play a lot of true freshmen. If Quick and Hatcher want an opportunity to play immediately UL might be a good fit. If they want to go to say Oklahmoma and redshirt and maybe not play much until their 3rd year, then a school like Oklahoma might be a good fit. I really don't think homesickness has much to do with the decision these two will make.
  11. That's an oversimplification of Trinity's offense and Wright's talent. I'm not convinced he's a major D1 playey, maybe a mid-major. I think he's lacking some arm strength to get the ball down field, and when he does go down field it looks like he's using max effort. As to the screen pass, the real question is why couldn't X defend it better than they did. When T went trips with Quick lined up inside I think everyone in the stadium knew where the ball was going. It looked like X was in man coverage underneath and our linebackers, ends and safteys were slow to come help our DB who was getting cracked.
  12. Since Quick's father played football at UL I don't think it's safe to assume that.
  13. Wow...who crowned them "X's best freshmen team ever"? Let us enjoy the Frosh victory, tonight might get ugly.
  14. Louballfan, my son's experience at St.X was completely different. He played football and baseball for 2 years. He was never pressured by either coach to quit the other sport. Matt Spalding was a freshmen starter at linebacker and probably would have been a varsity starter had he chose to play football. Same with Loehnert. My son could have contributed signficantly to the football team but chose to focus on baseball his last two years. By the same token, a couple of starters on the freshmen basball team (Daylen Hall and Matt Wilson) elected to give up baseball and focus on football. From my perspective, St.X does not "pressure" kids to play or quit a particular sport.
  15. I actually attended this game...some very questionable coaching calls on the Eastern side. In particular, down just 1 TD in the first half they call a fake punt on 4th and 4 and give Male a short field and another score starts the rout.
  16. Hoosier, It was a hypothetical question--obviously "we will never know" for sure. But, I can assure you Trinity does not have any more James Quick's or Jason Hatcher's sitting on the bench. The freshmen you spoke of is good, and may be as good as Dawkins later in his career, but Dawkins is by far the better back right now. Without those guys, Trinity would probably still win 6A this year. But, "Best Ever", not a chance.
  17. Hoosier Bird, I didn't nominate Clark 91 as "Best Ever". Someone else threw them in the discussion and I asked for more information about the team, ex. how many D1 players were on it? You then retorted that the number of D1 players was "irrelevant". No doubt can teams have multiple D1 players and get smacked by teams with no D1 players. But that's not what this discussion is about. We are discussing who are some of Kentucky's greatest high school football teams and comparing and contrasting the talent levels and depth of talent seems highly relevant as opposed to "irrelevant" as you claim. You again dodged my question, if Trinity did not have the D1 guys it has (Quick, Hatcher, Dawkins, White) would anyone be debating if Trinity 2011 was best ever? BTW, Trinity 2011 is the best Kentucky team I've ever seen. But, just because they are the best I've seen does not mean they are the "Best Ever". I never saw Clark 91, that's why I asked someone familiar with that team to post more information about them.
  18. Good example for how "irrelevant" the D1 talent was for Trotwood that particular year. This one example does not prove the "irrelevance" of D1 talent when discussing "Best Ever" teams. Again I ask the question, if Trinity did not have the D1 talent it has (namely Quick, Dawkins, Hatcher and White) would we be sitting here wasting time at work debating if they were possibly the "Best Ever" in Kentucky?
  19. "Irrelevant" you say? You say, "I've seen teams with tons of D1 talent get beat by teams no D1 talent at all." Define "tons" please. We've all seen weak teams, Fern Creek comes to mind, that will pop out 2 or 3 D1 signees and still get handled by 6A Kentucky teams and end up with a losing record. But "tons" of D1 talent, I think of a team like, well, Trinity 2011. Take away Quick, Hatcher, Dawkins and White (highly likely D1 signees) and we wouldn't be having this discussion about them as "Best Ever".
  20. No, you correctly bolded what I said--"should not be excluded from the discussion" based on strength of schedule. I didn't say strength of schedule has no "bearing on determining the best team ever". I'm not saying Clark 91 is the best team ever. I never saw them play. I'd like to know more about who was on that team and where they went on to play in college. Trinity 2011 clearly has the tougher schedule and by beating better teams you can certainly make the argument that T is the best ever. My point was simply that Clark 91 should not excluded from the discussion because of a weaker schedule. "Toughest Schedule Ever" and "Best Team Ever" are different questions and could yield different answers depending on the criteria used to answer the question. If we are looking for "Best Team Ever" one could look at LIT ratings, margin of victory, how many players went on to play D1, D2, NFL, how many started in college, how many made Allstate in high school, how many made all-conference in college, etc.. In my opinion, "Schedule" alone does not answer the question of "Best Team Ever".
  21. Delabar picked up the win last night over the Yankees after pitching a 1-2-3 11th inning. Congrats!!
