Good post except for calling Mayfield fans arrogant. Call out the person you want instead of putting us all in the group. Am I confident in our team? Yes. Arrogant? Don't think so.

 

It's just a play on words and always subjective. But, if it will help you sleep better tonight...your overwhelming confidence "appeared" to be arrogant at times, sorry!

Man, I now have to work Friday night and won't be going to Cincy. I was looking forward to it, but can't pass up triple time..Good luck to both teams and safe travels to all.

Agreed...he and his cousin are legit...both sophomores and A/B students!!! The cousin, "Labront Scott" who plays mostly "D" is bigger and has D1 potential...he and Jackson are both hearing from several larger D1 schools!

Doc might be taller, but bigger he's not. But both are really aggressive. I am terribly fond of both. I wish them the utmost luck this Friday.

What I see is Beechwood not used to being an underdog. When Beechwood won their last 2 titles I believe the fans here were very very confident, maybe what some of you call arrogant.

As a matter fact last year before the game I talked to a few fans, they said no way was Mayfield gonna win, I asked why? They said they had to much speed, I laughed. Is that what some of you call arrogance? Or is that confidence?

 

Make no mistake the fans and the players and the coach's of Mayfield respect Beechwood and know what they have done in the past and we know that this will be a very tough game.

Anyway, the example you gave about what some BW fans said last year is exactly what I posted earlier and for the most part some didn't think I was accurate. I knew for a fact "some" fans/players felt they weren't going to lose. I thought "maybe" since we were hammering 1A teams they felt that way.

 

I've finally sat down to watch a Mayfield game on the internet. They are very very good. I still like BW's discipline and ability to adapt and adjust on the fly so I have a glimmer of hope. I don't buy that MHS has a stud injured for this game. I think it's another sandbag just like NCC tried to pull with their top stud and he had a miraculous recovery. Both teams will be healthy, at full stength, and popping on all cylinders. The winner will have earned it.

 

That being said, we've hashed this thing for 14 weeks and some have for nearly 363 days. I've honestly said all I have to say so I'm "calling it a day". If we keep it close we have a shot and if it's a blowout it won't be because the boys quit.

Just a question, anyone can jump in and answer, but when was the last time Beechwood lost to a Class A team at home?

To answer TP's question: I would guess Newcath during the playoffs of 2006.

Mayfield's two best offensive players from last year both graduated - Shelton and Murrell. Their QB is very good and he is back from last year. I believe 4 of5 offensive linemen return and they are the reason Mayfield won big last year.

 

As to your question about the point spread, I think the way to look at that is ... Beechwood beat Frankfort 56-13 but do you think Beechwood is 43 points better than Frankfort? I don't. That is just the way the game went this year. And that is just the way things went for Beechwood last year at Mayfield. Scores often don't tell the true story. Last year, Beechwood was two good, healthy experienced offensive linemen from playing with Mayfield. But not having those linemen meant Mayfield could control the game and they did. So yes,IMO Beechwood has improved enough to make up the points from last year.
