Don't really have a prediction on the score, but I do believe that Mayfield pulls it out. However, for any of you in the NKY area this weekend, I would strongly advise you to go watch this team and namely Jonathan Jackson. Special player and worth the price of admission.

I don't think anyone was overconfident. I think the players knew what they were up against. I think most BW fans last year had their fingers crossed going into the Mayfield game hoping BW would handle a big line better than they had earlier in the year. Obviously, BW just did not have the linemen to hang last year. Hopefully, this year they do. That is what will determine this game. If BW can hold their own in the trenches, they have a shot.

I agree. Last year Beechwood struggled more than in the last 20 years. At no point were they overconfident, and I am sure they are not overconfident now.

 

I am a bit surprised that the game starts at 6:30. Did they do it so the Mayfield folks won't have to drive home so late? I can't think of any other reason.

Yes...it was moved up an hour last year as well.

 

 

TP...you and your Mayfield faithful are getting sucked-in to this back-n-forth banter by mostly non-BW fans..."we" know it's an uphill battle to beat Mayfield...you guy's blow smoke up our butt's, but I prefer that as opposed your typical sand-bagging.

 

I like this years BW team much better than last year's team because they aren't one-dimensional. When Mayfield shutdown our game-plan there wasn't a plan "B" nor did we really have the option for a plan "B". Last year, you punched us in the mouth early, we didn't see it coming, and we played like a deer in headlights and never recovered. No way do I think you were 38pts better, but when were were forced into a passing game...we were done. This year, I do think BW is stronger, faster, more discipline, and we have a pretty decent passing game with a couple of 6"4 & 6'5" receivers with great hands...

 

I highly doubt BW will lay an egg this year, but who knows. Without a doubt Mayfield is the 1A Goliath. BW only has a total of 3 seniors on the field so last years game in not in the memory of this team like you think...will it be a blowout again, possibly, but this BW team will not quit. Yes, the schedule was the same as last years and yes, you still hammered us. The main difference this year is that we were competitive and up by 2 TD's in all but one of them. If we can keep it close with your 1's on the field late in the game we have a chance to steal it because we've been there done that multiple times this year...not sure if that's an advantage, but I'm grasping for anything right now

 

Have a safe trip...bring some very warm clothes (upper 20's at kickoff)

 

Nice posts Crunch, I realize many of the posts are not Beechwoodians. Should be a great game between two great teams that will require a monumental effort if Mayfield is to win, somthing all informed Cardinal fans already know. THe loss of our leading reciever and starting DB may really hurt and BW being diverse this year will be tough. The winner will be deserving, that much I know for sure.

I think the game was at 6pm Mayfield time (7pm N KY) last year so I don't don't know why it wouldn't be the same this year.

I'd love for them to move it up an extra 30 minutes. The game should be played ealier than 7:30 in Beechwood or Mayfield because of the getting home factor. Its more to Beechwoods benefit to accomadate the time change because if Mayfield had you playing at 7:30 central , you would be getting home at 3:30 am.

All I'm saying is last year the game was played at 7pm N KY time! This year the game is scheduled to be played at 630pm N KY time! Don't know why it wouldn't be at 7pm. We lost an hour coming back last year. You gain an hour go home this year. I think I got home about 3am last year!

Good post except for calling Mayfield fans arrogant. Call out the person you want instead of putting us all in the group. Am I confident in our team? Yes. Arrogant? Don't think so.

Not the same teams as last year. This Beechwood squad is much tougher mantally than last years squad. This year Mayfield has to take that compalcency inducing ride up here as Beechwood had to take there last year. IMO that was why the game was over before Beechwood knew what hit them. Of course I like Beechwood's chances at home... I am, and always will be a Beechie Tiger... Class of 1976...

Mayfield also has played no where near the schedule that Beechwood has played. Put Mayfield against Beechwood's schedule and they're probably sitting at 9-4 right now with losses to Covcath, Highlands, Dixie, and Newcath.

I recommend the Mayfield faithful come early and join us locals at the Saddle Club in Fort Mitchell for a little pre-game getting to know one and other.

If we had played the "normal" starting time in Mayfield last year it would have been a 8:30 NKY start for you. We accommodated you guys last year with a hour and a half earlier start which is about the best that can be done with people getting off work and such. If this is going to be a regular playoff game, which I think it will be, then some starting times will have to be adjusted. In all honesty, us accommodating you helps you more with the time difference.

I won't be able to go to the game on Friday. Dang Casino work! Who wants to text me the scores of this game?
