If he wasn't a member of the team, his parents would be paying for the education themselves. So why shouldn't they have to pay for it because he's apart of the team?

Should American kids be eligible if a college pays for them to go to a certain prep or private school here in the states? Same situation.

Look at whay GT has also said, the NCAA says the expense is OKAY, But they want the club to pay for it directly and not go through the family first.

 

As long as that money from the club is going to pay for the education anyway, there should be no problem.

 

One thing that happens on a lot of European club teams, the education is paid for by the club! Some of these players are 100's of miles away from their hometowns playing for these teams. Again, the NCAA has no issue with the education being paid for by the clubs.

I doubt an appeal will do any good. Sounds like the NCAA already has their minds made up and wont budge.

As a UK fan, I think it's time we stop straddling the ethics double yellow line. Coach Cal does not need to take the ultra high risk recruits to fill out his roster. He is at Kentucky for goodness sakes. We squeaked by on the Bledsoe issue. Let's focus on recruits we don't have to lawyer into being eligible. If we continue to operate in such a risky manor, we are going to be put back on probation at which time Cal will no doubt split to coach elsewhere.

Where is this info coming from? I haven't seen anything about them offering to pay it back to the club and the club refusing.

Would you or anyone else here say they got it wrong if this kid went to Duke, UNC, or Louisville? I highly doubt it.

 

Actually I would. To me its about the kids and the NCAA should also look out for the kids involved. In this case I don't believe for 1 second that Kanter was trying to be a professional.

It's basically because of his desire to smear Ole Miss at every turn and the fact he wouldn't respond when I emailed him about the differences between Bledsoe and Oher. I.E. The Oher and the Touhy's or anyone invovled never lied or hid facts from the NCAA, which is what was thought to be going on with Bledsoe. So to slam Ole Miss and Michael Oher over it was ridiculous.

 

You try to smear UK at every opportunity, so I don't really see the difference. Well, the difference is he has a popular website, radio show, and upcoming tv show. I dno't agree with everything he says by any stretch and I don't disagree with everything you say, but I don't see that big of a difference in the personality of you two.
