According to a source close to the process, about $20,000 of that money was used by the Kanter family to pay for Kanter’ educational expenses—such as schooling and tutors—with the remainder still sitting in an account unused. It's basically because of his desire to smear Ole Miss at every turn and the fact he wouldn't respond when I emailed him about the differences between Bledsoe and Oher. I.E. The Oher and the Touhy's or anyone invovled never lied or hid facts from the NCAA, which is what was thought to be going on with Bledsoe. So to slam Ole Miss and Michael Oher over it was ridiculous.

November 12, 201015 yr Regardless of what the money was used for, the family still accepted it to pay for things....that is against the rules no matter how anyone tries to spin it. I agree that it seems kind of silly that Kanter be punished for his schooling and what not being covered, but when you think about it, Kanter's father is a doctor. Why would they need the extra money? That's what the NCAA obviously wants to know as well which is why they made the ruling.

I have said all along that the NCAA screws over kids ect. YES, I would say they got it wrong no matter what school a kid goes to. The only issue seems to be that Fenerbanche paid the family for the education and the family paid that money out for the education, but the NCAA wanted the team to pay for it directly.

No matter how much money a family has, they would expect the team to cover the expenses, all necessary expenses, education is a necessary expense! Why should the family, any family, no matter how much money they have, have to cover the educational costs while the kid is with the team?
