November 11, 201015 yr Author ^Well I see no reason why he can't practice with the team as he is already enrolled at UK and is taking classes. It won't hurt the team to bang against a guy of his caliber and will help Kanter keep his skills in check in time for the NBA Draft. Win/win for both teams (although its a really loss overall).

November 11, 201015 yr The only thing I can think of is that you can practice while the NCAA is hearing the appeal. And since UK is appealing that may be why he's able to practice. Once the appeal is decided if he is still ruled ineligible he'll no longer be able to practice.

If the $33k figure is correct there's no way he can be eligible UNLESS the NCAA has already set the precedent for allowing a player to collect money above and beyond expenses.

I just think that with the financial situation with his family that they could easily pay it off...

If you're okay with allowing Kanter to pay back 33,000 where do you draw the line? If Cam Newton took did infact take 100,000 is it ok for him to be able to give it back and still be able to play? There's gotta be a line somewhere, it doesn't matter if they have the ability to pay the money back.
