Enes Kanter is permanently ineligibile

Featured Replies

The $33,000 is the difference that the Kanter's apparently recieved in his last two years with the club team, which is a fairly substantial amount. I just think that with the financial situation with his family that they could easily pay it off...

Just can't happen. Once amateur stats is compromised, there is no turning back. The NCAA is messed up most of the time, but if it was determined he was a pro not much they can do...

Maggard has said all along multiple times he would be able to play now he is back tracking like crazy saying no it was UK who thought that not him.

Well I have a slight bit more hope in the appeal. The appeal doesn't run through the NCAA but an independent organization made up coaches, etc.

However, I still doubt we win it.

I wonder if they can find somebody to take his place they need another body!

If you're okay with allowing Kanter to pay back 33,000 where do you draw the line?

If Cam Newton took did infact take 100,000 is it ok for him to be able to give it back and still be able to play?

There's gotta be a line somewhere, it doesn't matter if they have the ability to pay the money back.

Two totally different things IMO, though I don't know if either should be allowed to play. Kanter was given a small amount of money (pro-wise) for expenses as a kid in a Euro culture where all basketball players of his age and ability are getting paid something. Cam Newton would have been given money to go to a school which is blatantly breaking the rules.

Shocking! A self-described insider getting info elsewhere, reporting it as scoop, finding out it's bad info, then backtracking faster the Deion in his prime? Tell me you're joking.

I hate this for him. If the second appeal is denied, then what are Kanters options?

Nope, I said UK thinks he'll play. RT @MSchenk24: Thought you said all along it won't be a problem and he would play this year?

I've always said I have zero clue..... RT @MSchenk24: Thought you said all along it won't be a problem and he would play this year?

Right....

If it's true then what can you do? Sucks for Kanter but he will be making an NBA pay check shortly that will make him feel better.

MM really leaves me scratching my head sometimes. Sometimes you just get bad info or a information where something else happens that changes the matter. Man up and just say you were wrong. You get the credit when you are right, now its time to take the criticism when you are wrong.

Being a professional trying to compete in the NCAA is also blatantly breaking the rules.

This was an important decision for the NCAA, I don't know if they got it right or not, but they set a framework for future similiar cases.

That stings.

I know for a fact I have seen multiple tweets from him in the past assuring UK fans Kanter would be playing this year. But of course it wasn't him that was wrong.

Right....

Here's a direct quote from him on TBK at 12:08 this afternoon.

I am in NO WAY telling any of you that there WILL BE an end to this saga.... I also have no idea what any possible ruling might be....

Seems pretty clear. I do find it funny so many hate on his info knowing who his contact at UK is...

Was looking around for some info on related cases, in this instance Renardo Sidney's amateurism issues last year. Looks like he took about $12,000 grand in excess but he will be able to play this upcoming season. So I guess, the line to where you are still an amateur is just in the excess of $10,000.
