Pre-Season Nky Top 10?

Featured Replies

Brady Reese will be the QB. He is much faster than Erp but is not as good passing. The game versus Ryle will be a great game. There is no way this team will only finish .500. The past three years CCH has had very good freshman teams. The backfield will be loaded with Gray, Slabaugh, Leo, and Beatrice, they have the best WR in NKY in Connelly, and an Oline that returns 5 players with varsity experience, Cary Thaxton 5'10" 225, Bradley Way 6'0" 270, Evan Kuderer 6'2" 280, Max Halpin 6'2" 265, and Tim Connaughton 6'3" 270. The Defense is going to be very good this year. Troy Timmerman will be one of the best D lineman in the area this year, 6'3" 245, and very fast.

Size has never really been an issue with CCH. Actually their size has been pretty impressive. IMO it's their explosiveness off the ball that's really been their achilles heel.

SK on defense lost their 2 best lbs, Brown and Kaiser, Safety- Simpson, DL- Piccirilo, Hansel, Deason, Hiedrich, and Hiles. That is just on defense.

On offense they lost their whole offensive line and best player Simpson.

They have a lot to replace. That is the reason for a lot of doubters on this board.

We will see how well Lawrence does when he is the main focus of the defense and with an inexperienced line in front of him.

I agree with most of the Defense but SK does have alot of good guys to fill thos places and they did not lose their starting safety from 2009, they lost 2008's starting safety.

The prize being???

Alot of angry Boone supporters:lol::deadhorse:

Boone has played in the regional championship 5 times in the last 8 years winning 2 of those games with all of their regional losses coming to the team that played in the state finals. While Ryle and Conner combined have only played in 1 regional championship during that span, and Ryle made it to the finals without playing a team from Lexington or Louisville. I am by no stretch a Boone fan but to say they have been on a downslide for years is not supported by facts. Were they down last year? YES, but most schools have up and down years.

I simply don't agree. There are only 37 teams playing 6A football in Kentucky. Boone has never won a state championship, and out of their own district SK and Ryle have both been to the state finals since Boone's last appearance in the championship tilt.

As a matter of fact, when was Boone last in the title game?

Furthermore, if I said that a team had an NFL MVP on their high school squad, you sure would have thought they would have won the state championship, wouldn't you?

Weren't they just 9-4 and in the region championship a year ago? I wouldn't exactly say they've been in a downslide for years. Boone has traditionally been a top 3-5 team year in and year out in nky and always at the top of nky 6A.

Outside of Highlands and Beechwood, Boone is probably the most consistent team in nky. With the direction that the program may be heading in with some of the "turmoil" that's going on out there now, I could possibly see them having a few "bad" years (by Boone's standards) until a change is made out there.

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Walter-I think they are consistent. Just consistently mediocre. The other two schools you noted are powers year after year. You say Boone is strong, but nobody ever talks about them winning the state championship.

I am not trying to jump on them now, because of "the situation" you described. I just ask to look at them from a state level. Henderson County could be put in their same class in terms of consistency, and nobody talks about them being a state power either. They are pretty consistent though.

Thanks for the info...IMHO, the Colonels have been average, average, and slightly above average the last three years. Wins at the Freshman and JV level don't always translate to success at the varsity level, and the truth is, the varsity level is where programs are judged. Honestly, I think you are overrating the backs and offensive lineman a bit, but have always thought Timmerman was a standout, whether at linebacker or d-line.

I believe that Trinity had 3 D1 lbs that year.

SK has had 2 good years.

How many losing season did they have prior to the previous 2?

I think it was approaching double digits.

What don't you agree with the facts I laid out in front of you? Making it to the state Championship game is a great feat do you know how many schools have made the 4a/6a title game in the last decade besides X or T answer 4. Exactly 1 of those four teams defeated X or T in the playoffs to get to the finals. So you are correct that they haven't made the finals since 1994 but they have won more consistently in the playoffs than any of the current 6A schools in NKY. I am sure you will not agree with that but that is also a fact. I really hate having to defend Boone, but facts are facts.

I so have to disagree with this statement, because as a NFL MVP, I assure you Sean was surrounded by several MVP type linemen, receivers, QB and defensive teamates; unlike his high school career. Plus his talent growth from high school through college and several years int the NFL took tremendous strides also. So, without saying it's a fact, I would bet a lot of NFL MVP winners never played on a state championship team regardless of what state they came from.

Actually, five straight winning seasons, but from 2001-2004 they did have a losing record.

I don't remember a time in the last 20 years where CCH will have the deep talent in each class 9-12 like they will have this fall. Things are definitely projecting high for CCH for this year and the next 4.

5 Straight winning seasons...

I saw Brad Way training yesterday and the boy can move. He was going through an intense session of sprints with and without the weighted sled. I would have to say he should be a nice lineman next season for Cov Cath.

My fault I was going by memory and I am getting old.

So they had 4 losing seasons and 2 winning seasons prior to 08 and 09?
