Pre-Season Nky Top 10?

Featured Replies

Why would anyone in there right mind rank Campbell County any where near the top 10?:idunno::idunno:

Pretty good offense from what I saw last year. Not sure who all is returning, but know their QB is. It was their defense that was awful. They fix that and they could be pretty solid.

I don't know that I agree with this. Certainly a Boone QB generally has less overall value than most QB's due to the type of offense they run. But whether or not he throws 2 passes a game or 42 passes a game, if the position was handed to him without a legitimate and meaningful competition, I would think this would turn off quite a few players, parents, and fans. Not saying this has happened - I don't really know - but if it has, that is a shame.

We have a winner......

Last 1/2 of the season they played a ton of Sophomores and Juniors. They were outmanned physically, but they started competing better on Defense.

I expect their defense to be much improved this year.

Their offense was pretty good all year. They have added offensive Guru Coach Sipple to the staff. Kramer is an excellent QB Geiman and Smith return at WR. If they can improve their running game, they will have a very explosive offensive team.

In addition I think Conner, HC, Bellevue will all have a bit of a down year, as compared to last year. So even if they are only slightly improved I can easily see them being in the top 10 this season.

I agree w/ what you are saying. That just never crossed my mind b/c I find Boone's coach to be pretty straight forward, and couldn't see him just handing over a job. Then again that's my view from way outside of the program.

Ryle lost at least 10 seniors that played on defense i think will struggle trying to stop the speed of Highlands, Colerain, and Sk.

1.Highlands

2a. Covington Catholic

2b. Ryle

4. Simon Kenton

5. Newport Catholic

6. Dixie

7. Beechwood

8. Holmes

9. Boone County

10. Campbell County

I think SK will be good this year, just not great like they were the last two years. I'm uncertain who goes #2 but I guess we'll find out week 1 when CovCath and Ryle play at Nippert Stadium. Highlands deserves the #1 right now because of their success the last three years, but I don't think they will be #1 at the end of the season. Holmes could really make a run in the playoffs this year, I know they have some great young talent returning. This list might look completely different week 7 or 8.

Just because they played, doesn't mean they will be big losses. Look at Ryle's defense in week 1 and week 10. You'll notice a big difference in that more underclassmen were on that side of the ball. (Hempel, Mullins, and Elliott to name a few)

This is not why you pick teams to be #1. I think Highlands in the best team in Northern KY for the 2010 season because they are overall more talented this year than any other team, (IMO). Is the AP going to pick KY #1 next year because of their success this year? I doubt it. What does 2007 have to do with ranking Highlands #1 in 2010?

The darkhorse this year!

"The Franchise".................

Anyone who knows the inside scoop knows what I'm referring to. I'll leave it at that.

I think a 3 year winning streak against NKY opponents is a great reason to rank a team #1. The fact that they are talented goes without saying, it's Highlands, they will always have very talented teams. Untill they lose they should be #1. With that said I don't think they are head and shoulders above the rest of NKY this year. I don't think they will win state:sssh:

I miss the good ole days when all of the fighting was between Cov. Cath. and Highlands fans. :D

Agreed! Clyde, TOG, and a host of others are hoping for the young bunch to come together and I am sure they might just be a season away....

This should not happen and would be a black eye on a very good program. I really do not know of the situation, but as a head coach I can tell you my son would have to blow away the competition to play QB at any level. This is in the junior ranks, if it happens in high school, I see the program going in the wrong direction fast....that would be a shame.

They are already going in the wrong direction...how fast, as you put it, is the question
