Elliott vs East Carter history

Featured Replies

I am not sure about that. My father played on those teams and Sandy Hook won most of those games until the schools consolidated. When the schools consolidated Elliott lost to East the first year.. I believe East was ranked #7 in the state that year. Then as Sandy Hook Elliott won the majority of the games until they changed their name to Elliott County, which was in the late 70s. I would double check those records, because I am pretty sure Sandy Hook won the majority of the games before the schools consolidated.

The 52-24 is only since Sandy Hook changed name to Elliott Co. Before that East Carter played Sandy Hook 6 times before they changed names. East won 4 of those 6. So if you add them since East became a school the overall record against Sandy Hook and Elliott is 56-26.

Well said that is why you are KNOWITALL. Elliott has beat a lot of teams over the past 4 years who are better athletes run faster and jump higher but very few if any that are better basketball players. You put it perfectly.

I agree. Ballard put on a pre-game dunking exhibition before a packed gym that was worth the price of admission. Some in Sandy Hook had never seen the rims rattle like that before. They clearly won the pre-game activities, but lost the game 89-75.

Yes that is true. That was the year East and West consolidated. But Sandy Hook, did not become Elliott County High School until the late 70s I believe. Elliott did pretty well against East during that time frame. East has had some great teams. They had a very good program under Bozo. I think one of the best teams to not make a regional tournament was the one with Hale and I believe his name was Jackson. That was a good team.

Sandy Hook High School became Elliott County High School in 1974 by name change only. There was no consolidation in the formation of Elliott County High School.

That is correct I think anyone would say Ballard were more athletic. But when the game started it was clear that Elliott were clearly the better basketball players. Ballard's athletes is all that kept the game as close as it was.

That is correct and in those 3 years East and Sandy Hook played 6 times with East winning 4 of the 6.

Just curious, but I would like to see the total # of threads started about, or that mention Elliott County on this board over the last three seasons.

A lot of things about EC are left open for debate, but one thing that isn't: Elliott County has the most vocal fans in the State of Kentucky.

It is evident you have a dislike or jealousy towards East probably because you have seen a lot of those losses to East by using that name for a very good and respected coach Charles Baker. But that is ok, just as Elliott is seeing a lot of negative comments on here from people (even people from East) who are tired of getting beat by Elliott over the past 4 years. That's the way a lot from Elliott feel towards East because they have watched a lot of losses over the years at the hands of the Raiders.

They won 3 or 4 games when Salyers and Adkins were there. Other than that they would only pick up a win every 3 or 4 years. The numbers do not lie even with the current streak of 9 in a row over the past 38 years the overall record is 52-14.

No I have respect towards East Carter. Alot of my family have went to East Carter. My mother graduated from East Carter. I thought that was Coach Baker's nickname, it was not meant for disrespect. I thought he was a very good coach. I attended his basketball camps even though I played at Elliott when I was in elementary school. So I am not sure what you are referring too that I am disrespecting him.

I almost moved to East to play baseball, so I like them just fine. This entire comment started with one of your friends from East making negative comments about Elliott that was unwarranted. I never once said that all East fans were jealous of Elliott. I made the comment to one person, then you jumped in with your comments stating that East Carter fans were not jealous. Apparantely some are check the posts. Believe not many were ever jealous of East when they were winning. I personally would pull for them when we were out of the tournament.

From the East Basketball program which is very well done by the way. It list East Carter's records against all opponents in its history. I always buy programs where ever I go to watch a game. East has one of the best in the area.

Wonder why that is? That has always bothered me. Fair weather fans are not really fans at all. I'll be here next basketball season too (God willing)!
