Holmes 41 Ryle 34

Featured Replies

I have watched Holmes a few times this season, and it may just be me but I feel like Holmes, a lot of times, plays to their competition level, does anyone else feel that way? The refs let the boys play tonight, and I think that worked out in Holmes favor big time. Like a few mentioned before, Ryle looked scared out their for most of the game!

Both teams got away with lots of hacks so I could not say that the NBA/college style of play really helped one team more than the other. Ryle looks "scared" to shoot in the 5-6 games I've seen them play this year. Always seems to be a lot of hesitation to throw up the rock with even a wide-open look. That is not successful basketball strategy. Their coach should get out and watch Elliott County play. Now, that is some fun basketball. If one of the 9th region teams can't win state, I guess I'm a closet EC fan because I like run and gun.

Agreed, I used to attend Morehead State and had quite a few friends that graduated from Elliott County. Had quite a few opportunities to watch them play and was very impressed with what I saw, especially from a school that is so small. With the way Holmes played tonight, Elliott would get a W against them, IMO. I do believe, though, that if Holmes plays like I have seen them play Elliott would be to small to beat them.

Gotta give those boys some credit though, they are beating up on almost every team they play down there in Sandy Hook!:thumb:

If John Wimzie tells you to cool it, you cool it.

If its who Im thinking it is, Ive seen him up at fitworks in Newport a lot, I wouldnt mess with that dude thats for sure.

Boone can beat either team. Either team can beat the Rebels. I do think that Boone has a better chance of beating Holmes than does Highlands. At this time, the games will probably be close regardless of opponent. Boone is only worried about Highlands and cannot think about Holmes right now. Tourney time brings that extra bit of defensive intensity - gotta love it.

No disrespect to Highlands as they are a nice team, but who on earth would rather play Holmes than them?

Highlands doesn't play half the defense that Holmes does. I just can't imagine any team saying I'm sure glad we got Holmes instead of Highlands in the semi's...

Holmes does have to pick it up, and as many times as I

've seen them play, I would have to say their biggest problem is playiny to the leval of thrir competition.

The fact of the matter is that Boone got the toughest draw in the tournament and must beat the 3 toughest teams to win it, so they need to focus on each game one at a time.

See, now you could have just said that earlier. If people are stalling the ball on Holmes then the score makes much more sense.

I went last night and there was no stall ball played. Holmes is just as deliberate and methodical on offense as Ryle.Holmes does not push the tempo at all. People keep saying Holmes is going to break out, sorry to tell you at this time of year "you are what you are". Holmes has a great chance to win a title, but they are not going to blow many teams out in doing it. And they will never be considered a high powered offense like Elliott or Scott.

Holmes will be fine.

Does anyone have the Holmes FT numbers? It was ugly.

Holmes was 6 for 13 from the line.

Pittman 4 for 11

R. Johnson 2 for 2

Oh the noncall

He didn't undercut him. Good hard foul.

Nothing good about it, period. :madman:

They are what they are b/c they've adapted over the years. They do just fine when teams try to outrun them...ie...Scott County at the beginning of the season. Henley and his staff figured out a few years ago that it's stupid to run all year in the 9th when teams will run w/ you in the regular season just to have everyone slow it down in the postseason. So he taught his guys good half court man defense and a half court "motion" offense. I think if history is any indication it's going very well for them.

Really? :ohbrother:

Boone won't make it passed Highlands. Or even the Dawgs. :idunno:

Really.

Nice work Panda.

BTW, what was up with Lamping blatantly undercutting Pittman when he went up for the first dunk on the break away? He was lucky he didn't get called for the intentional foul.

The woman ref blew this call. This was clearly an intentional foul.

Actually, the three refs who did this game were absolute jokes!
