letabrotherspeak Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Just saying. I have a friend who played ball with a former Mariner and he said the Mariners back in the day were using steroids regularly. Hamstrings go out once he gets to Cincy. From what I understand hammy's are at a potential risk coming off the juice because for such a long time they compensated for the growth of the quad muscle. Not saying he did, but many have said he has done it the right way...so how surprised would you be if it comes out that he did some juice in the Pacific Northwest?
gchs_uk9 Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Honestly, I would be 0% surprised at any major leaguer saying they used steroids. That's how bad's it gotten for me. With Junior, you do make good points about the post-Seattle injuries. You never know, but it looks kind of bad.
Latch Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Just saying. Overly, if it was working and he was putting up those kinds of numbers why quit? If he injured his hamstrings after and he knew they would rid him of that problem why not go back? If he already had used them his charachter and judgement would have already taken a hit, what was the point in quitting before they started testing? Taking all of this into account I still wouldn't be shocked, just more than a little surprised. Does this friend know Boone or someone before his time?
sportsfan41 Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Wouldn't be very surprised and wouldn't care much either.
DragonFire Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Really? You guys wouldn't be shocked? I'd be floored. He's the one player I would never expect it of.
The Scribe Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I wouldn't be shocked. When his injuries began to pile up it was one of the first reasons I cited.
HammerTime Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Really? You guys wouldn't be shocked? I'd be floored. He's the one player I would never expect it of. Why? Breaking down of the body and injuries are one of the most notable side effects of roids.
AverageJoesGym Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 It would not shock me in the slightest.
MBWC41 Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Nothing involving steroids and baseball would shock me anymore :madman: I'd be more angry than shocked.
98NCCalum Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Ok, i'll admit it. I'd be shocked, I just don't see the mass on him that these other guys had.
nees1212 Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Ok, i'll admit it. I'd be shocked, I just don't see the mass on him that these other guys had. I'm with you. The only mass he added over the years was to his mid section.
Italian Stallion Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Really? You guys wouldn't be shocked? I'd be floored. He's the one player I would never expect it of. I was literally going to say the same exact thing. It'd be hard for me to watch baseball ever again if I found out Griffey was on the juice. To me he is one of the few lights of legitimacy in the league through the steroid era. I would never be able to forgive him.
westsider Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Ok, i'll admit it. I'd be shocked, I just don't see the mass on him that these other guys had.I'm not an expert on the subject, but is added body mass a side effect of every steroid? It's likely that different people's bodies respond differently to a steroid, just as they do to various medications.
