Personally, I'd be shocked to find out that he actually didn't do them. They were too easily accessable back in his earlier years and once you start hitting the way he did you don't want to loose it.

There is no way Jr. has ever done steroids. If it ever came out that he did, I'd probably go into a state of depression, but alas I won't have to worry about that because he's as clean as they come.

I have a friend who played ball with a former Mariner and he said the Mariners back in the day were using steroids regularly.

From what I understand hammy's are at a potential risk coming off the juice because for such a long time they compensated for the growth of the quad muscle.

Not saying he did, but many have said he has done it the right way...so how surprised would you be if it comes out that he did some juice in the Pacific Northwest?

I always thought this and especially after he got hurt in spring trainer that year while rounding 3rd. People told me I was stupid because Griff is a stand up guy. Like someone else mentioned, I wouldnt be surprised by any Major Leaguer addmitting

No it wouldn't. It would be just yet another disappointment in a long line of disappointments - Bonds, Clemens, A-Rod, McGwire, etc....

Griffey was never on the juice. He didn't hit like he was on the juice either. Prettiest swing in baseball. He didn't hit those towering home runs like Mcgwire, Sosa, Canseco etc...He hit line drives. He could run better then anyone in the game and I believe steroids would have hindered his speed in Center Field. Griffey was NEVER on the juice and it's so obvious.

It was obvious that Bonds, Big Mac, Arod, and even Clemens took roids by their body type and never really breaking down(with the exception of Bonds, but that was after he got his numbers). Griffey has remained the same throughout his career and has gradually got bigger as he got older. Griffey is part of what kept baseball going through the strike and the rough times in the 90s and in my opinion, would devestate baseball much more so than the others if he did take them. I am almost positive he didn't though.

I mean there are some fans who do overestimate his impact on the game, but he was a big part of baseball. From his sweet left handed swing to his backwards hat in the HR Derby, etc. People grew up wanting to be like him and Dads took their sons to games just to watch him play and wanted their kids to play like him.

I realize others had a huge part in bringing the game back, probably more so than Griffey, and it was the Sosa vs Big Mac HR race that really got people back into baseball. But the majority of the superstars from that generation are being caught using steroids and Griffey is one of the only true superstars we have left from that time period that looks to have done it the right way. There are still guys like Ripken, Gwynn, Maddux, and others like them who helped along the way and are great role models, but none have the popularity or fan base that Griff does.

It was obvious that A-Rod and Clemens were users?? I would have considered them both to be pretty big surprises to the vast majority of baseball fans.

 

Girffey is not bigger than the game. While it may be a surprise to many if he turned out to have used (I don't think he did personally), it would just be another in a long string of disappointments in MLB and wouldn't drag down the popularity of baseball any faster than what baseball is already doing to itself.

Nothing can kill baseball. Look at its history and it still draws record crowds.
