There should be a shot clock. I mean who wants to watch a team play keep away for an hour and a half and a final score in the low 30s? The real problem with a shot clock in high school is getting one in every school and having someone who can run it the correct way. It would be a little more difficult to have one, but I feel it is needed.

Anyone know anything about Campbellsville? They were no hit by Mercer's Bottoms yesterday. A college coach had Bottoms at 85 to 88 fastballs and 79to 81 sliders. Their record appears solid against good competition.

Some top teams in no particular order are Mercer with Bottoms and Robertson as one and two pitchers, Danville with Witten, Pulaski SW with Branscum and Rockcaslte with Brown. I'm sure there are many others.

I have seen both play and if both teams play their best I believe Russell runs away with it. They hit harder and are much, much stronger defensively. Newport's home field advantage is valuable but not enough. Best of luck to both teams.

I did take that into consideration, that is why I didn't predict Mercer would score 48. Anyway, I'm sure it will be fun to watch.

After reading 187 posts it is apparent most everyone in the eastern part of the state thinks Mercer can only run the ball, has an inferior defense and will get beat. If Russell thinks that they will see what Newport saw through the air. I see Mercer getting 200+ yards on the ground and 150+ yards by the passing game. Both teams are good, both coaches are good and prior opponents do not matter so the real factor will be which team wants it the most. Baseball should have the ten days available. Most baseball coaches are reasonable and know how to work with athletes playing multiple sports.
