How surprised would you be if Griffey Jr used steroids?

Featured Replies

It was obvious that A-Rod and Clemens were users?? I would have considered them both to be pretty big surprises to the vast majority of baseball fans.

Girffey is not bigger than the game. While it may be a surprise to many if he turned out to have used (I don't think he did personally), it would just be another in a long string of disappointments in MLB and wouldn't drag down the popularity of baseball any faster than what baseball is already doing to itself.

Yes it was obvious that they used them. Look at Arod when he was in Texas compared to when he came in to the league. He is a beast and it is almost impossible for someone to maintain the level of play Clemens did for so long. He was in his mid 40s and pitching like he was 25 or 30.

I realize Girffey isn't bigger than the game and I never said he was. All I said is that it would hurt baseball more than if he did it than Arod or Clemens. Sosa, Bonds, and most of the others had a noticable change in there appearence and that is not the case with Griffey. But I agree baseball would be fine if he did take them, but my only point is that it have a bigger impact on baseball if Griffey did take roids because he is one of the clean superstars left from that era.

He was 18 years old when he was first called up and he was a fulltime player at 20 ... guys do get bigger and stronger from that age until 25, which is when he signed with the Rangers.

Why? He is no more of an icon than those guys.

Are you sure about that?

I never hear anything like that, except from Reds fans ... yes, you're overestimating his place in this sport. Baseball fans won't be despondent if it turns out that Griffey was juicing.

I would love to see pics of any player that works out at all that is/was the same size when they were at 18 as they were/are at 25. I would guarantee you that if you looked at pics of Jr when he was 18 and 25 he is not the same size.

Did Nolan Ryan juice as well? I seemed to remember him throwing very well into his 40's.

Ryan might have, who knows? Do you know for sure that he didn't? Did he have the career decline only to have a huge incline again years later when others his age start fading or have already faded? If he did then it isn't out of the question.

I would be FLOORED if Junior was to ever annouce he used steroids. I think it is pretty clear he did not, with all the attention to this topic his name would have come up by now!
