formerkywrestler Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009  Awesome thread. I'm going with yes!
Fastbreak Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 It certainly indicates that a significant swath of our society is willing to follow a charismatic leader.
"old"shooter Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Whether it is a cult, a religion, or hypotism of the dullards, it is certainly seen by many looking for handouts (ie: the conveniently placed Mrs. or Miss Hughes) as a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The problem to me is that the rest of us are providing the gold with nothing whatsoever in return.
Fastbreak Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Ohhh... you'll be getting something in return...
Guest Bluto Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Oh, good grief! Was that aimed at the Thread itself, or the YouTube video containing Obama supporters?
PureFan Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 He definately has a cult following of detractors!
"old"shooter Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Ohhh... you'll be getting something in return... He does show distinct signs of being quite carpathian, doesn't he?
HHSDad Posted February 12, 2009 Author Posted February 12, 2009 He does show distinct signs of being quite carpathian, doesn't he? Machiavellian too.
2 Humped Camel Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 No, but to keep preaching all of the failed conservative ideas like deregulation and more tax breaks for the wealthy just may be.
Jim Schue Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 It sure seems like it, but I could have said the same thing about a number of the Bush supporters during the first couple years (until they figured out what a dolt he is). Some still worship at the altar of Dubya. As I told a buddy of mine who couldn't understand why I wasn't as vehement an Obama supporter as he: "I don't like the guy; I'm just not sure about him. However, the bar's set pretty low, so he doesn't have to do much to be better than his predecessor."

If anything goes wrong during his administration, it will be blamed on the Bush Administration or on obstructionist conservatives. Since the media is, with few exceptions, worshipping at his alter, nothing negative concerning him will be reported (Need an example? Look at the past campaign and consider just exactly what we really know about him?). Finally, those who oppose him will, as was the case during the campaign, be branded as racists. There is no bar for the socialist messiah.
