October 5, 200817 yr Hartline's coming along and will be ok. Getting Cobb back just to make plays wherever they use him will help the offense alot. I have to agree that not having Micah hurt us quite a bit against the run. If anyone wants to put a little money on Bama not being ranked at the end of the season I'd be happy to take that.
October 5, 200817 yr As badly as I wanted the Cats I was 99.999% sure it would not happen. They did keep it a lot closer than I thought they would. Maybe, Bama isn't all of that after all?
October 5, 200817 yr Ok, my thought after letting it all soak in. I think UK wins 10 games this season. Come on Wireman, you don't believe that...
October 5, 200817 yr I see UK beating Arkansas and South Carolina at home. That puts them at 6-1. Florida will beat them, as will Georgia. Mississippi State should be a win, as should Tennessee. The Vandy game will be a toss up IMO. 8-4, with a real possibility of 9-3.
October 5, 200817 yr Come on Wireman, you don't believe that... Why wouldn't I believe that at this point? They lost by 3 points at the #2 team in the nation. There is no reason to believe that they can't compete with every other team on their schedule. They have Georgia and Florida at home, they are better than USC, Arkansas, and Mississippi State. This is a pretty good UK team.
October 5, 200817 yr I was pleased with what I saw from UK. They battled and played hard for 60 minutes against one of the best teams in college football. Obviously, Alabama didn't play their best game, and I'm not sure anyone expected them to...we see this time after time in college football. Team's rarely bring their A-game a week after a huge, emotional showdown. All it says about Alabama is that they're good enough to win against a solid football team when they don't bring their best. I wanted to see UK play some SEC competition before I decided how good their defense is. As expected, the going is tougher against the big schools...but, they proved to me that they're a very solid unit. (I love Trevard Lindley, by the way...I have ever since he first took the field in a UK uniform. I think he's the best cornerback in the nation that hardly anybody knows about.) Offensively, I'm not as down on Hartline as some people are. It doesn't matter who is under center...the whole offense isn't playing that well. The running game has been a huge disappointment. The WR's aren't playing well...they drop too many passes and seem to lose focus. Patience. The majority of the WR's are young and inexperienced, just like Hartline. You have to allow some time for a learning curve and for these guys to develop some chemistry. UK's football program is in much better shape than before and definitely heading in the right direction... ...but, let's not get carried away. We haven't arrived to the point where we can lose virtually our entire passing offense (QB, 2 WR, TE), all guys who were drafted in the NFL, and expect to just re-load and keep rolling. Woodson experienced growing pains. Hartline has not been that bad. I'm sick of hearing the criticism he takes, as if a QB change would suddenly turn UK's offense into a juggernaut. But, for goodness sake, what has happened to Lones Sieber? He was a solid kicker last year. What on earth has gone wrong with him? That onside kick attempt? I think Brooks' expression afterwards summed it up...there was no need for words...nothing to say.
October 5, 200817 yr Cats battled all game. Typical SEC Game against maybe the best team in the league, on the road. Keep on working and getting better.
October 5, 200817 yr UK's defense is very legit, but a concern is a good defense that is not getting much help from an offense will wear down and not be that good a defense over time. UK's defense will not continue to be this good if they don't start getting some help from the offense. Ricky Lumpkin & Micah Johnson coming back will help a lot.

October 5, 200817 yr Just got back from the game and a great time in Tuscaloosa. My quick thoughts: 1. The reason for all of Alabama's holding calls in the first half was bcause they could not stop UK's front 4. I'll put UK's D-line and CB's up against any unit in the country. 2. Hartline improved as the game went and his deep passes are 100% better than the start of the season. But, this is the second no contact fumble that he has had this season. 3. UK's defense was better than Bama's offense. 4. Bama has the best defensive team speed and hitting I have seen in a long time, much better than last year's much ballyhooed LSU defense IMO. 5. Tuscaloosa is unlike any other gameday setting I have ever been to, also, without a doubt the classiest fans in the country. 6. Kentucky exploited some major issues Bama must resolve to compete for the National Title, likewise, Kentucky could very easily win 9 games, but they could also win as few as 5.
October 5, 200817 yr Oh, also, Lonas Seiber needs to be deported. It is only a 100 mile trip from Lexington back to Knoxville. UT was right not to take Seiber but wrong not to take Cobb. So I guess we are 50/50

October 5, 200817 yr Found myself pulling for the Cats in this one... Awesome effort. Their defense will not only keep them in games, it will win them a couple also. Me too and I agree! :thumb:
