Our condo complex got hit pretty good but our building held up fine. One of the chimneys from a top floor unit totally blew off, and the firemen had to remove it. Once I got home from the Bengals game, my electric worked but I had no cable. So I went out on the deck and plugged in my Sirius to listen to some NFL football. Then the electric went out so I walked to Boone Woods to play 9 holes of disc golf. It looked like a twister went through there, there is a huge tree in the park that was very unique. About a month ago a huge limb had fallen from this tree, and it took quite some time for them to remove it. This tree had to be a few hundred years old, it had quite the trunk but it was unique because it had a whole in it where one could actually stand in. Apparently it had been infested with some termites, and today the whole entire tree, about 100 feet tall fell to the ground. Seeing something like that makes you respect Mother Nature. The disc golf was a blast, I threw some titantic shots.

Watched two 60+ foot tall trees fall over in Oxford Ohio today on Miami University's campus. Gusts over 60 there.

In the Greater Cincinnati area, Duke has approximately 817,000 customers. Approximately 680,000 were without power at one point today.

We are in Bellevue.

 

He's my only real concern.

 

If it were just the wife and I, we'd manage.

 

But she's having some trouble feeding him in the dark. We have some candles but its not going well.

 

Hopefully not too much longer.

 

As an update my whole family lives in Bellevue and they said they will be without electric for 3-4 days. I also heard about Pilot Lumber. One of my friends said that the whole outside where they keep the wood has been tipped over and the wood is everywhere. Hope they get it fixed within the next couple of days for everyone.

Bengals game was rediculious. Garbage flying around everywhere. Made it really hard to watch the game. I didn't watch too much of it though because the Bengals are terrible to begin with.

OH NO 3-4 days. That's awful. Must have had some major damage. I hope it comes on sooner than that.

The power was out here on campus at NKU for about 7 hours. It got really hot inside so I would go outside from time to time just to cool off. There were some really weird moments with people running around and seeing them tossed around like ragdolls. There were a bunch of gutters that were blown off, some shingles that either detached or barely hanging, lots of sand from the sand volleyball court is no longer in that area, and something from the pavilion area just above the sand volleyball court flew off and hit the side of one of the traditional residence halls.

 

I will say though that despite what everyone says about the food here on campus, I think the dining service wrokers at Norse Commons did as good of a job as they could within the short amount of time they had between meals to get things ready for those that wanted something to eat. Granted it was sandwiches, salads, fruit, Jell-O, and tea, but they should be commended for being able to adjust like they did in order to have something ready for those that live on campus.

Great we have a confrence call at work to see if we will be working and I am one of the lucky ones that gets to go in and listen. :irked:

We still don't have power. Stinks but what do you do?

We didn't have power yesterday for about 6 hours. I cannot imagine being those people hit by Gustav and Ike. They said it could be 2 months--my gosh, how do you live? Do you go to school and work? My husband's company is a manufacturing facility and they would go under! What do people do?

3 of my kids were in Dayton for X Fest. The hotel they were staying in was, almost, hit by a tree. The concert was shut down around 2 PM. The kids said it was a hairy ride back to the hotel. They had to dodge trees, tree limbs and downed power lines. We were very concerned. They made it back safely to the hotel.

Our power is still out and will be out until at least tomorrow. There is no ice to be had. I'm surviving with my various issues, but life is not fun right now.

I know a place that has ice, for the right price, or a PM I'll tell you where. I picked up 5 40 lb bags this morning.

As of this AM over 230,000 in the Ville lost power. We lost power yesterday at 11:30 am. Still out. :irked: Don't know when we will get it back. We stayed at friends last night who had power.

 

I remember the tornado of 1974. Yesterday was just as bad if not worse than it. I have never seen wind like that in all my life. I have come to work to charge cell phones, dvd players, etc. :irked:

 

TD is not liking this AT ALL! But what do you do...well....happy hour going to have to start at 5pm today instead of 6:30pm.
