September 15, 200818 yr Does NKU have power again yet? They had power this morning around 8:00; however, school was still closed. I have heard they have a generator though. Not sure if that is true or not.
September 15, 200818 yr Yes NKU is closed today, I'm making a push for tomorrow as well!!! But I doubt that'll happen. I will pray for it to be closed tomorrow for you At the rate things are going it might be. I think at this point even if the school shave power they are closing for the student and teachers sake b/c they might not have power.

I drove home down Bardstown Road last night with all the lights out everywhere and it was a very surreal experience. But the lights are on at school and so here I sit. I wonder if they'll regret opening the doors when they find me shaving in the restroom tomorrow? True story. Just talked to her. By the way JCPS and Catholic schools closed again tomorrow.

September 15, 200818 yr I'll kill somebody... Actually you bring up a funny point. I realized how quickly things can escelate in situations like this. I was so bored yesterday afternoon, that I decided at one point it would be a good idea for me to go buy a gun. Probably a high powered pellet rifle. I have no clue as to why, but for some reason my mind started heading in that direction. Get a large group of people together, yea who knows what may happen. Luckily it wasn't until around 6:00 pm when I got this idea, so Dicks was closing.:devil:

September 15, 200818 yr So far, a half million of the 927,000 Duke customers that lost power are still out. Just to clarify for the lady on WLW who said that the south end of town has power..we DO NOT! Only a tiny part of town past Woodfill School has power. Someone mentioned Rockmom. She is okay and does have power. My son who lives 2 blocks west of you on Beechwood has power .
September 15, 200818 yr It was so nice not having to get up this morning to go to my 10 a.m. class with probably the weirdest professor I've ever had.....and I've had a few. LOL. I'm currently in the process of moving to a different room here in the University Suites and thought I'd jump online to see how everyone is doing. I hate to say it but the main reason why I am glad we've got power here at NKU is cause Monday Night RAW is on tonight....next week I'll be at the show in Cincinnati and don't want to get behind in the storylines. LOL. On a different note, I am TOTALLY glad that I wasn't on one of the elevators here in the Suites yesterday while power was out. Two out of the three here were stuck midway between floors. Can you imagine having to spend seven hours stuck in one of them? The only part that would have been nice is if there was an extremely hot lady in ther. LOL.

Currently, 225,000 LG&E customers and 29,000 KU customers remain without power. "Strong residual winds from Hurricane Ike cut a wide path of destruction, causing power outages to approximately 75% of LG&E’s service territory. The resulting damage includes: approximately 140 broken poles approximately 3,000 wires down 33% of all LG&E circuits are locked out approximately 68% of all substations are experiencing some problems Every utility in our region has been impacted by this storm, making it nearly impossible to obtain additional crews through our Mutual Assistance Program. Approximately, 1.5 million customers are without service in the Midwest. LG&E and KU crews are working around the clock to restore power as quickly and safely as possible; however, it is anticipated that this will be an extended outage period of at least 10-14 days for LG&E customers."
