Trimble County High School will be opening its doors to ALL storm victims that need to take a shower or want a hot meal. Showers will be available from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm (BYOT - bring your own toilettries!) and a free spagetti dinner will be served at 5:00 pm. If you know anyone that could use any of the above, please send them our way!
September 16, 200817 yr My Mom got power today at noon in Covington. I had to throw everything out of her refrigerator and freezer. I just learned this tonight, check with your insurance company to see if you can claim for loss of food in your refrigerator/freezer. Some companies allow up to $500 reimbursement without this counting against your homeowner's policy. I'm calling my agent tomorrow.

I'm not sure what you mean, but if you file a claim even on refrigerated items it will likely show up if you are shopping for coverage. In most cases any claim you file is reported to the bureau, even if there is no coverage of the damage is less than your deductible. It's best not to file a claim for minor damages. A standard homeowners policy will not cover loss of refrigerated items due to lack of electricity. You will need an endorsement on your policy to add this type of coverage. In a lot of cases his coverage if avaiable will be subject to a reduced deductible compared to your regular policy deductible. But keep in mind the reduced deductible only applies if loss of refrigerated items is the only claim you are making. If you have addition damage to the dwelling from wind than your regular policy deductible will apply.
September 17, 200817 yr I saw close to 100 trucks from various electric companies headed towards NKY today on my way to and from Louisville. They really travel in packs, must be a union thing.
September 17, 200817 yr One of the things that hurt Louisville in all of this was the fact that we had a bunch of crews down in Texas on account of the hurricane. I never lost power, but my cable and internet just came back up today.

September 17, 200817 yr 70 hours without power and counting... It seems that anyone who lives on a street with a traffic light gets power first. It gets my hopes up every time I come home. The traffic lights are now working, and most roads I travel have power. Then I turn off into my subdivision to be disappointed.... maybe today I'll get power!

September 17, 200817 yr I am definitely proving that theory not to be true. Most street lights in Fern Creek are operating (Bardstown Road area). Hurstbourne / Taylorsville Road still had no traffic lights as of yesterday evening. For those unfamiliar with Louisville, Hurstbourne carries 58,000 cars per day and Taylorsville Road carries 34,000 per day at that intersection. That averages to 63.8 cars per minute. At peak travel times, there are thousands of cars coming to a now four way stop.
