September 19, 200817 yr To make matters worse, my brother's house was broken into tonight. They have no power, nor does anyone on their block. His wife and kids had just gone out for a visit to my brother at the firehouse then when they get home there is a car in front of their house and someone is running to the car when the pull into the driveway. Turns out they got ALL of her deceased grandmother's jewelry, come credit cards, went through their tax papers, almost got their DVD's(they left them on the porch as they bolted). She is very distraught, as are my nieces. What sucks is that since it was so dark she couldn't give the police a description of their car or what they looked like. Of course my brother was told by one of the officers that this is the 4th break in around the area today, which makes it seem like to me that some folks are taking advantage of those who have no power and staying elsewhere. I hope someone catches them, and inflicts a slight amount of bodily harm on them before the police arrive.

People like that need to stay in jail. Ugh, that makes me so mad. I am so sorry that happened.
September 19, 200817 yr My parents in Union finally got power at 4AM, Apparently it woke them up when all the lights came on and the tv was blaring.
September 19, 200817 yr If they aren't smart enough to know any better then I have little sympathy for them. Um I don't think that they had any choice in the matter .
September 19, 200817 yr Duke Energy was having their golf outing at Lassing Pointed yesterday. Thought that was somewhat comical.
September 19, 200817 yr My parents in Union finally got power at 4AM, Apparently it woke them up when all the lights came on and the tv was blaring. That is weird. I am in Union and we never lost power at all.
September 19, 200817 yr Um I don't think that they had any choice in the matter . They couldn't just say, "No, we're not doing that. It's stupid and dangerous."
September 20, 200817 yr I HAVE POWER!!!!! 5 nights without electricity is tough... how'd they ever do back then?
September 20, 200817 yr Um I don't think that they had any choice in the matter . Sorry but you always have a choice. Especially under those type of circumstances. Heck if they were at all smart they'd say no and be on the phone with a lawyer in two minutes. That's how people get ahead these days unfortunately. But yea glad they weren't hurt, but don't feel sorry for their ignorance.
September 20, 200817 yr I HAVE POWER!!!!! 5 nights without electricity is tough... how'd they ever do back then? I know I couldn't imagine either. Guess it was easier back then though, when nothing ran on electricity....
September 20, 200817 yr Well, we got power back today in the Highlands, at least on my street. Now all the neighbors are back in their couches, plopped down in front of the TV's. I almost miss my power outage/ camping trip already. It was kinda fun, plus I got more sleep.
September 23, 200817 yr Figured I'd share this. While out on the bike the other day I was on gun powder in Boone County. A homeowner had a sign up. I couldn't help but laugh, because it was Saturday. The sign read in big orange leaders on a piece of plywood: "Duke! WTF!??" As I rode on past on the motorcycle I couldn't help but laugh because clearly this person wanted to know when they would be getting their power back, Wednesday,Thursday, or Friday. Why did I laugh, because it was Saturday and I still couldn't tell whether or not they had power.:fire:

I guess that was there way of telling Duke they needed help.
September 23, 200817 yr Anybody else hear Nick from Loveland's call into WLW? The guy was crying cause he had gone 4 days without electricity.
