Gunpowder in Union?

 

I was under the impression that all of Florence / Union was back on. Apparently this isn't true.

 

I do know that many parts of Union didn't even lose their power.

 

I'd thought the same, then drove down Houston road, came to the stop light at bigs, which had no power. Really weird.

Well they ended up getting power back last night around 930PM. Needless to say...they were ready! Duke had 9 trucks within 200 yards of their house when they got home from work yesterday!

I'm baaaack.:dancingpa Power came on yesterday but my computer was not cooperating. Wow, didn't realize how addicted to Bluegrass Preps I was.

 

What a storm:scared:

 

Poor neighbors car got smashed. We have a tree up against the back of the house. Called the tree guy today and he just kinda laughed. Maybe next spring it will be gone.:creepy:

 

Haven't read thru all the post but I hope everyone did ok during the storm.:thumb:

 

Had a note taped to our door saying they would clean up the tree in my driveway for 500.00. Let me know if you want his #

Heck Tony, just open up the trunk of your car, pull out a chair, a cooler and hang out and just have yourself a week long tailgate.:dancingpa

Gunpowder in Union?

My parents live in union and their power has been off since noon on sunday and they still don't have it, they talked to Duke today and they said it will be Sat or Sunday. They live in triple Crown if you are familiar with that area.

My brother (in Ft. Mitchell) finally got his back today.

I had a medium sized white pine blow over onto the powerlines that feed my neighbor's house . They never lost power . I called the Southgate fire dept and since it was on the electrical wiring they put caution tape around and notifyed Duke Energy and just for good measure I called Duke too. Well the neighbors were gone for the weekend ( elderly neighbor and her grandson ) when they came back the grandson called his father to come and remove the tree . He did but did not do it himself . I saw the truck drive away with the wood and it was full of people who worked for his dad's company . Didn't wait for the wires to be de-energized . Didn't risk his life just the lives of the people who worked for him .

If they aren't smart enough to know any better then I have little sympathy for them.

103 hours now without power.... this is officially getting old......

I am very sorry for all of you without electricity. My neighborhood was hard hit as well, and many are still without power. My side of my street is the only one in a several block area that has power. The park down the street is horrific. Sidewalks look like there was an earthquake, and beautiful victorian homes are damaged by huge trees that have fallen on them. I know it's really tough on a lot of people. And, for Louisville, with the Ryder Cup here, it couldn't have come at a worse time. Much has been devoted to making sure that a huge revenue generator for the city will go on, and to their credit, LG&E have come through in spades. Be patient...it will all be restored.

 

Our corporate offices are/were located in Galveston. As much as I feel sympathy for everyone in this area that has lost their power and the inconvenience it causes, I do have to admit I also feel very grateful. Many of the people I talk to frequently have lost everything, and I can only pray for them and think of how much worse it could be.

You are absolutely right, we in KY have been very inconvenienced, but there are those in Texas that have lost everything and are suffering with even greater loss.

 

I know there has been loss of life even here in KY, IN, and OH, and I don't want to minimize how horrific those losses are. Our prayers are with those families. But we in this area must also be able to relate better with what is going on in Texas as they are still suffering with out electric and basic supplies after 2 weeks. They are still struggling and will continue to for some time. Our area should be back to normal or close there to by this weekend. Texas has been thru our crisses ten fold.

 

Hope what has happened here in the tri state is an eye opener to how much help is needed in every part of the country during unforseen crises.
