I'm hearing it's back on in our area, but haven't heard anything for sure back at my house....

That's funny that you said this, b/c I called my parents last night to check on them b/c they didn't have power when it was dark. Well I have a 14 year old sister, so she is usually gone, or in her room when there is electricity. Well they said she was sitting downstairs with them and actually talking and socializing. Which is wonderful to have when they are teenagers. Well I called them back at about 9:30 to let them know that Boone county schools were closed, and they turn around to tell my sister, and all the sudden she is making plans with friends who live down the street to go to their house lol. She was only sitting there b/c she new she had too HAHAHA

It is true. My sixteen year old and eighteen year old spent the evening with us, no tv, no computer, minimal cell phone usage...it was great! I hadnt played Battleship in years! (won one lost one). It was a very nice evening.

Course this morning, I wanted that electricity back in the worst way. Thank God it is finally back.

We didn't have power yesterday for about 6 hours. I cannot imagine being those people hit by Gustav and Ike. They said it could be 2 months--my gosh, how do you live? Do you go to school and work? My husband's company is a manufacturing facility and they would go under! What do people do?

I was driving around today and wondered the same thing.

Several grocery stores without power for 24 hours. Do they just throw out all the meat/dairy products?

Restaurants, stores of all kinds shut down. Loss of revenue and loss of pay for one day seems disasterous enough, but for a month?

That is one good thing about working at a hospital. In times of disaster they need you more than ever and always have backup electricity.

Still out here....I sent my Wife and Baby out to mybrother and sister in laws for the evening.

My son who lives 2 blocks west of you on Beechwood has power .
They have it right behind us on Lockwood. In fact, they have lights right up the street from us. Its surreal. Its like living in a museum exhibit on the eighteenth century. Sticky - Yes, the fire department, Run to State, and another friend teamed up to help us out. It's good to know good people.

Hey, guess what? We had so much fun last night, we had another game night with the lights on. I came in last in SCRABBLE which I have always considered myself to be the Queen of. :irked:

Forget every bad thing I ever said about my kids. I love them all over again.......at least until I look in their bedrooms again.;)

My wife and I played Scrabble last night too!!

In Alexandria my GF's power went on for like an hour and now its back off again. Thats just mean.

Finally came on in my house in Ft Wright - we did offer grilled food we had cooked to the Duke worker. He's been non stop since 2:30pm Sunday. He said it had been 12 hours since he ate.

Power is FINALLY back on here in Okolona...I was going to drive to Frankfort tonight if it hadn't been on when I got home from work.

Still no power in parts of Ft. Thomas

Just talked to Henry; we got power at about 6:45 this morning. But alas, no cable so she still can't get on BGP. But she's not complaining (too much). She's glad to have power and hopes the other folks in the region can get power restored soon.

Haven't heard from Mrs. Crunch yet. Phone is still out. Another oddity was that we were not getting any signal on our cell phones either.

Our power was restored at 1:50 am last night. We were out for exactly 35 hours. I'll have a lot more to say later.
