I believe that Glen is still the coach. They looked good last season, at times. I look for an improvement in this team this season.

I would go to them, but from the questionable things done at KCC last season and the other things concerning sports at KCC, I'd rather not. I wouldn't get a straight answer. I thought that I might here. I know who is coaching the Fall team and haven't seen him to ask him. And Jamie is there when the Fall team is practicing. So, I don't think I would still get a straight answer.

Wondering if anyone would know the answer to this, does the KHSAA rule on a Fall baseball league that has nothing to do with a high school, yet the players are required by the coach to take a weight lifting class in said high school? I guess what I am asking is, is their some sort of rules violation? The coach of this team is affiliated with the high school. Not a head coach, though. But my understanding is that the high school's head baseball coach is the one that is making the requirement of the players. My son was wanting to play and he is trying to get this class and I am checking to make sure so that he doesn't get disqualified for his senior year. Don't want him breaking any rules. They do have different age groups, but the 16-19 team's players are the only ones required to take this weight lifting class.

Final in 5 innings. Estill will face Hazard in the championship game tonight at 8 PM.

Al games will be played tomorrow if, if, there is no rain. Hazard vs. Breathitt 1 PM Perry Central vs Estill 4 PM Championship game will be played at 8 PM. Hazard hosted this tournament and due to the rain it was a hassle. But, there were two days that games could have been played. Today being one of those. I think they dropped the ball on this one. Pun intended.

They are going day to day right now. That would put the semi's on Friday and the final on Saturday. All coaches have stated that if it came down to it that they will play Sunday. I am assuming that Hazard and Letcher are both out. Not sure. I do know that Hazard's graduation is on Sunday evening.

The rain hasn't been kind to the 14th this week. One game in which was Tuesday, Breathitt and Powell. They could have gotten some games in tonight, but after looking at the radar, elected to wait until tomorrow. 3 games on Thursday starting at 2 PM (Hazard and Letcher Central) then the next game at 5 PM (Estill and Wolfe), and the last game at 8 PM (Knott and Perry Central). More rain is predicted for tomorrow. Hopefully not.

It has rained almost the whole day here. Gives some teams some extra rest for their pitchers, though.

After the circus that was the hiring process at Knott County, they hired a quality coach. Fraley will not tolerate any parent trying to help. So, what does this mean for the AD David Stamper, who loves to give his input on who should be playing and they did, Tate Cox's dad Jim who was an assistant, and others who always had an opinion? I don't see this turning out so well for either side. But I wish them all luck. Fraley is a good hire for this team.

Knott County has some good talent. But Knott doesn't have the population that Scott County has. Maybe get some transfers from other neighboring counties, but that would be it.

Nope. No new businesses. The tourism is picking up, but nothing that would bring top players to KCC.

True. The assistants with Amburgey were, if I remember it right, Jim Cox (Tate Cox's dad), either Keith or Kenneth Davis (doctor who assisted at JBS) and one more whose name escapes me at this time.

There's a lot of controversy going on at Knott. First they fire Justin Amburgey, who had a great record at Knott, then they go after big name coaches. Why? Who knows for sure. If they have the money to hire these guys then they should have the extra money to upgrade books and other things. Amburgey was doing a great job with these kids. My speculation is that he and the AD, DJ Stamper, didn't see eye to eye, and DJ runs the show at Knott. Can Hicks take not being able to do want he wants with the team? We will see if he does take the job.

I haven't seen any talk about the 14th on here in a while, so here's an update. The top 10 teams are: Hazard - 15-6 (Tough schedule and still just 6 losses.) Knott Central 13-1 (Good record, but from a weak schedule) Perry Central 13-5 (Probably the best team in the region.) Estill County 11-5 (Even though their record doesn't show it, #2 team in the 14th. Very tough schedule.) Powell County - 11-6 Lee County - 8-6 Letcher County Central - 8-10 (A surprise that this team isn't better.) Breathitt - 7-6 Wolfe - 7-6 Leslie County - 6-8 Hazard is 11-2 in the region KCC is 8-1 Perry Central is 8-0 in the region Estill is 3-3 Next best record in the region is Letcher Central with a 7-2 record.

Bluegrass, Lafayette was one of the best places that we have visited. I enjoyed it a lot. There have been a few other places that I enjoyed going to as well. All have been great experiences. One thing that Coach Hammonds instilled in the boys that he coached was respect for the game and for the other team. My boys have taken that with them beyond the field. Baseball is a life lesson. And, yea, I try to tune it out (the heckling), but I am reminded that not every coach would put up with that. Most coaches would not put up with the disrespect. I guess this is a trend and all of us old guys will have to put up with it. Cooperstown, when we have gone to away games, almost all of us baseball parents would meet down the outfield fence line and talk about the game. I like the setup you have with that tournament.
