westsider
On another website, there are rumors that Hicks could be going back to the mountains to coach, perhaps at Knott Central. Is there any truth to it, or is it a hoax?

Is there any truth to it, or is it a hoax? If true, one would wonder why we would be making such a move as this one. He has it very good down at Scott County with having top 5 and top 10 teams year in and year out. You have kids all over the state that would love to play for Scott County and get the exposure they get every year. They get some of the best players around the state and thats why they compete at the national level and for a state title every year. IMO he would be making a mistake if he left Scott County... PRESSROW
WKYT reported this morning that Hicks was on the Knott County Central campus yesterday and reported the possibility of him leaving Scott County. Said the job was offered to him and others that were reported in the mix were Bill Mike Runyon, Dave Fraley and Rodney Woods. KYT said that Woods already said he was not interested. Plato
Two things: 1. Knott must be putting up some big time money to attract these types of candidates. 2. When the new superintendent was hired at Scott Co. things may have changed. I can't see this coming to fruition, but stranger things have happened. Rainman11
Cuts being made across the district, 20+ teachers not having contracts renewed (non tenured), coaches at every level taking serious cuts to percentages they make as coaches. Toyota has it's positives of being in town and it has its negatives, 20 year tax forgiveness is now gone (money used to be sent to district)...now that money is making our county appear to be richer which means we get less funding per student via the state... Thats a double cut in money and that is not even to mention the cut that was handed down to each district by the state! There is some serious truth to this story. gchs_uk9
I thought Lex Cath won Region 11 the last two years????? If you are competing for the 11th Region title, then you are competing for the state title. Don't let the fact that Scott County didn't win the region over the last two years conceal the fact that they were one of the best teams in the state. getalife
How true this is, it's not the same Scott County. I'm not familiar with the situation. Are you saying this is a good thing or a bad thing?
Tiger0334
Rainman pretty much hit the nail on the head with it. In the past, the coaches would get what they wanted because they made money for the school. The Toyota Classic alone makes the school enough money to run most of its sports programs. With new Adminstration some of these coaches are not getting what they once did. Im sure most of Scott County would be sad to see Hick's and other coaches go, but if he does leave for else where I do not think he will be last.
