I heard this rumor during the state tourney, Steve Wrights name was mentioned as a replacement for Billy Hicks.

I guess that would be a way for him to get out of the 11th region. He has not liked it since he had to go there. :lol::lol:

WKYT reported this morning that Hicks was on the Knott County Central campus yesterday and reported the possibility of him leaving Scott County. Said the job was offered to him and others that were reported in the mix were Bill Mike Runyon, Dave Fraley and Rodney Woods. KYT said that Woods already said he was not interested.

I'm surprised to see Fraley's name on their search list. Not that he can't coach, he's proven that he can do that. But he would have to be edging close to 70 years old. I know he was coaching at Powell County in the late '60's through the mid '70's.

Where is he at?

 

He's at South Laurel. He was a coach in Northern Kentucky many years ago and has done well for himself at South Laurel.

Pretty sure this was a done deal. Will know in the next 24 hours. They said he would Retire from Scott, come to Knott just to coach for a nice amount of cash. The only thing that would knock this deal out is if his wife doesn't want to move! Big question if she will or not! If he does accept the offer, this will start a major coaching movement for a lot of coaches. Top quality coaches would leave where they are to get the Scott County job and then their jobs would be opened for others, will be fun to watch and see how it all plays out.

There's a lot of controversy going on at Knott. First they fire Justin Amburgey, who had a great record at Knott, then they go after big name coaches. Why? Who knows for sure. If they have the money to hire these guys then they should have the extra money to upgrade books and other things. Amburgey was doing a great job with these kids. My speculation is that he and the AD, DJ Stamper, didn't see eye to eye, and DJ runs the show at Knott. Can Hicks take not being able to do want he wants with the team? We will see if he does take the job.

FYI Hicks retired from SC last year, he is only paid by SC has a coach, and like my statement above if Hicks leaves I seriously doubt "a big name" will even be considered with the current money situation here. If the district brought in someone they would obviously have to be hired in the district (that is losing 20+ teachers this year) as a teacher or they would only be making around 10K for strictly coaching, IMO they will hire within if he leaves, take it for what its worth.

I think long time Assistant Coach Tim Glenn would be a great choice.

There was a rumor that Eric Bledsoe's high school coach was going to get a job in Kentucky.

 

I don't know if there is any truth to it, but if he wanted to match the level he is currently at in Birmingham, Scott County is probably the likely place.

True. The assistants with Amburgey were, if I remember it right, Jim Cox (Tate Cox's dad), either Keith or Kenneth Davis (doctor who assisted at JBS) and one more whose name escapes me at this time.
