Reported on Hazard WYMT 6:00 news cast that Knott Co. Central had hired Dave Fraley as the Head Coach. Coach Fraley comes into a very talented program that the fans have great expectations for. Any info on Coach Fraley's past records and his style of play? Also who might he be looking at for his assistants to help him at KCC. A lot of parents are involved with the program does he like for that to be in his type of coaching?

Is this the same David Fraley who led Pulaski County to the State Championship in 1986? If so you are getting a great and legendary coach to lead the Patriots. I would not be surprised to see Coaches like Bobby Keith, Roscoe Denny and many others showing up at Knott County games and practices since both are good friends with Coach Fraley. I would suspect Coach Fraley to play to his strengths. He will find a way to put his best players against your weakest players. His teams usually play tough defense as well. He will be a hit with the fanbase as he is quite entertaining both on the court and with the media as well. He is one of the most quoted high school coaches in the state. There are lots of Dave Fraley stories out there and most always bring a smile to your face. Best of luck to Coach Fraley.

After the circus that was the hiring process at Knott County, they hired a quality coach.

 

Fraley will not tolerate any parent trying to help. So, what does this mean for the AD David Stamper, who loves to give his input on who should be playing and they did, Tate Cox's dad Jim who was an assistant, and others who always had an opinion? I don't see this turning out so well for either side. But I wish them all luck. Fraley is a good hire for this team.

Fraley is an excellent coach. If the Knott County faithful will let him do his job, they will be very pleased with this hire. He understands the game and how to coach kids. Very good hire.

I think it was evident from the get go that with some of the rumors going around about this job that they wanted a big name coach. Obviously with Coach Hicks and Coach Woods being rumored to go and now getting Fraley KCC is very serious about their basketball program right now.

His last coaching stop he never made it out of the district and had a record below .500. I think he even quit at some point during this season, can someone clear that up?

Fraley retired from Pulaski Co. for a few years -- three seems to stick out in my head -- but returned I think at least partially to top the 600-win mark and to rekindle the competitive fire. Things got kind of dicey his final season during the Perkins brothers' transfer situation, which led to his resignation that time. Sort of a "you can't go home again" situation.

 

Guess the competitive juices are flowing again for Dave. I saw him and Bobby Keith hanging out together at the Sweet 16. Maybe he'll come back, too.

Who is 1st all time? I would think that Billy Hicks, Steve Wright, and Dale Mabry maybe up there as well as far as active coaches.
