The link you posted about the Brown & Williamson club clearly states that it seats 550 comfortably, whereas WKU claims theirs will seat 800 comfortably.

That is probably right on the seat number, I just meant shear number of people inside comfortably standing, talking, sitting, etc. I'm sure it will be nice at WKU.

Anybody can get these seats, they are the black seats located in the second tier behind Louisvilles sideline. They cost only a small amount more, maybe $5 or $10 max.

 

$15.00 and they are wide, covered and cushy!

I would like to see it moved to Lexington. However, like others have said, it won't happen until UK goes with the field turf and I don't see that happening anytime soon.

 

SEC doesn't encourage artificial turf fields. Vandy is an exception as they sometimes play in an NFL stadium.

The way I look at it is, its just a longer trip to go play for a state title. How many times do most schools and kids get that opportunity in their lives? And if Bowling Green can make the championships better than Louisville, what the heck, its only a little more time out of our lives going to watch kids do something they've worked their tail ends off to accomplish.

 

If BG puts in a better bid and the only downside to me is that I have to drive an extra hour and a half each way to watch the Birds compete for another state title, I'm in baby, without even a tiny concern about the extra time.:thumb:

I have never been to Fort Thomas and have no idea what the drive is between the two. But if it is truly 70mph all the way then it should not take you 3 1/2 hours.

 

You know that never happens, there is traffic, miscellaneous miles, etc....let alone the hike from I-65 to the campus.

Vandy is grass, and LP field in Nashville is also natural.

If you are thinking to move the 'Ship then I think it would have to rotate to every region. Saying that moving it to WKU gives the boys in the East a disadvantage is a reason to boycott it then the game should never be at U of L because Male, X, and T all have home-field adavantage there.

^ Listen Papa John's is a much better location.....the city lends itself to natural amenities that help for a large championship atmosphere....it is away from a conflict with the Univsersity.....

For the fan or the player? I say neither. Players on the field aren't looking up in the stands and thinking, wow, there are a lot of empty seat here, they arethinking wow, we've made it here, letes finish it.

If someone forks out enough $ the KHSAA will move it there! That is all they worry about. The girls' state basketball tournament & both state golf tournaments are there, if Osama Bin Laden calls the commissioner and offers enough $ for it, the Boys' Sweet 16 could very well be played in the remote mountains of Pakistan. Nothing is sacred with the KHSAA more than COLD HARD CASH! (Don't you guys know how much it costs to house & feed all of the board of control members and buy the matching outfits for all of the state championships?) You are naive if you think football is sacred and they won't move it to Bowling Green!

First of all, not all of the Board of Control members are fed and housed at the football championships and not all of them have the matching outfits you referenced. And that, Sir or Madam, is a fact. Some do, no doubt. But you seem to forget the amount of time that those Board of Control members "put into" high school athletics without pay (some members actually lose money by volunteering to serve).

 

Second, that cold, hard cash you disparagingly refer to is very important to the KHSAA and the member schools. In order to keep dues as low as possible, it is absolutely necessary that the championship game generate as much revenue as possible. You may not realize this, but unlike other states like Ohio where the high school association takes the gate from the regional and semi final games, the KHSAA does not; rather it allows the participating schools to keep those profits. Thus, if the KHSAA is to receive the funds needed to put on quality championship events for the kids and fans, it is an absolute necessity that the cash figure into the location decision.

Maybe not quite that quick but I have never found any trip to take as long as Map Quest said. You can make up a ton of time in 3 hours driving 75. And personally I wouldn't fight 65 to campus. Scottsville Road is an absolute nightmare now (don't know the last time you were there). To save my nerves I would go around to the Natcher and come up. My inlaws recently moved to BG down by the 65 exit off Scottsville Road. Traffic was horrible.

Would it be crazy to rotate the state finals between 4 locations? WKU, Murray State, Papa John, and Commonwealth? Mix it up a bit.
