Don't they have the girls state basketball tournament in Bowling Green?

 

I have a solution, since the only place that matter are those who live in populated areas, we'll have the tournament in Sparta at the Kentucky Speedway. Paint some stripes on infield and mount some goal posts. Parking definitely won't be a problem. Then, it is close to Louisville, Covington, and Lexington. You could pick which city you want to nightlife in after the game and drive there in less than an hour.

 

If NASCAR won't come, bring on the KHSAA.

Entitlement? Just find it odd that the largest city in the state, with the most student athletes, would not host 1 state title in the 20-30 events, male and female, the state has.

 

The entitlement argument works better when people form certain areas of the state feel they are entitled to funds from other areas of the state. :lol:

Track began this year if I'm not mistaken. They have held the softball state tourneys there from time to time too.

How far is it from Louisville to Bowling Green? 1 1/2 hours?

 

People from Central/Louisville/NKY area should not be complaining about driving distance. Many from the west of the state drive 4 hours every season to the Ville for the finals. Only legit claims for driving distance should come from far Eastern Kentucky that get the shaft no matter what.

1 1/2 hours is a heck of a lot less than a ridiculous 4+ hours. People from almost the entire state have a completely legitimate reason to be concerned about the distance. Keep it in Louisville--it's the most reasonable option.

I will keep going regardless if the games are in BG or Louisville, but I prefer Louisville. If it aint broke, don't fix it...

The games will be just as successful in BG, if the people in Louisville don't like it, they don't have to come, that simple, the rest of the state has had to commute for years, won't hurt people in Louisville to drive a little

No, it's the center of the state--more so than way out in Bowling Green. To be a success, the game needs to stay where the greatest percentage of the population can reach it in the shortest amount of time.

No, it's the center of the state--more so than way out in Bowling Green. To be a success, the game needs to stay where the greatest percentage of the population can reach it in the shortest amount of time.

 

Have you ever been to BG? It's not really in West KY, its in Central KY, just further south. And its only 90 mins from Louisville, thats not much. Why not let them host it on the year that UL is getting beat down that weekend and then see how it goes? If it's a failure with attendance way down, move it back to the Ville.

Everyone I know that goes to WKU travels to Nashville for nightlife... Not that there isn't any in BG, but it can't be that great. :lol:

We travel through there every year. So I know it's a horribly long trip.

Technically you are wrong. Louisville is not the largest city in KY. Independence, KY 41051 is geographically. Louisville's actual city limits are not as large as they appear.

It's not 4+ hrs from NKY, I do know that. I made the trip back in April and it was like 3hrs and 15 to the Levee.
