Is BG bidding for this season?

I have never been to Fort Thomas and have no idea what the drive is between the two. But if it is truly 70mph all the way then it should not take you 3 1/2 hours.

Everyone I know that goes to WKU travels to Nashville for nightlife... Not that there isn't any in BG, but it can't be that great. :lol:

 

Gosh, I thought we were talking about football atmosphere and not partying!?! Get out, travel some, and see for yourself instead of taking someone elses word for it.

I personally will be ticked if it leaves Louisville. I will still go wherever, if Trinity makes it...I just think the best teams should play in the best venue, with the best amenities...

Looks pretty sweet to me...This ought to answer the ones clammering for Louisville because of the Brown & Williamson Club...Seems to me like a non-issue now as BG would provide the same...

 

That is still very much an issue. Those pictures looked great but do they hold close to 1,500 people comfortably? Either way, I just cannot wait to see WKU pitch to host this because like others have said if it isn't broke don't fix it. If all WKU could do was to provide the same ammentities as UofL then why bother? If it conflicts with Louisville's schedule then I'd understand a move but until something is is barring a game in PJCS, there is no reason to move this unless your a WKY resident, WKU supporter or WKU Football Coach for recruiting purposes.

I knew about the Volleyball tourney at Ryle and Gray Middle and that won't happen again unless BOKC decides to bid on the games!

 

Not that I am doubting you at all SM but where and when did NKy host the golf outing?

We did it in '75 it was too far then too.

The way I look at it is, its just a longer trip to go play for a state title. How many times do most schools and kids get that opportunity in their lives? And if Bowling Green can make the championships better than Louisville, what the heck, its only a little more time out of our lives going to watch kids do something they've worked their tail ends off to accomplish.

 

If BG puts in a better bid and the only downside to me is that I have to drive an extra hour and a half each way to watch the Birds compete for another state title, I'm in baby, without even a tiny concern about the extra time.:thumb:

It will never move to BG, thats for sure...

If someone forks out enough $ the KHSAA will move it there! That is all they worry about. The girls' state basketball tournament & both state golf tournaments are there, if Osama Bin Laden calls the commissioner and offers enough $ for it, the Boys' Sweet 16 could very well be played in the remote mountains of Pakistan. Nothing is sacred with the KHSAA more than COLD HARD CASH! (Don't you guys know how much it costs to house & feed all of the board of control members and buy the matching outfits for all of the state championships?) You are naive if you think football is sacred and they won't move it to Bowling Green!

Has it really been successful? Attendance has not been great, I don't think that it has been made the event that is should be.

Alot of this depends on weather and teams playing. Some teams just don't have the following T/X have and never will. The KHSAA needs to make the event better. Years ago there was a group that helped with this but think in the end was taken over by the KHSAA.

To answer you repetitive question: I think it would be better in BG because it would be a bigger event, more publicity, less competition, a smaller facility, but still plenty big enough.

Personally I don't care where it is. I have to be there anyways. But I find it hard to believe that most kids would want to play at WKU stadium over Papa John's.

 

Other then the drive, that everyone is concerned with, both to Louisville and BG, I think most fans would come away with a better experience in BG over Louisville.

The link you posted about the Brown & Williamson club clearly states that it seats 550 comfortably, whereas WKU claims theirs will seat 800 comfortably.

 

At any rate, as I said earlier in the thread, the only reason I believe this was a possibility, and probably the only reason they've put in a bid is that UL is expected to have scheduling conflicts. I believe if not for that, they won't move unless there is something way above and beyond what UL is providing, which there is not.
