  1. This is HILARIOUS! WATCH! http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/video/clips/palin-hillary-open/656281/
  2. If someone forks out enough $ the KHSAA will move it there! That is all they worry about. The girls' state basketball tournament & both state golf tournaments are there, if Osama Bin Laden calls the commissioner and offers enough $ for it, the Boys' Sweet 16 could very well be played in the remote mountains of Pakistan. Nothing is sacred with the KHSAA more than COLD HARD CASH! (Don't you guys know how much it costs to house & feed all of the board of control members and buy the matching outfits for all of the state championships?) You are naive if you think football is sacred and they won't move it to Bowling Green! LOL
  3. FACT: Most men don't set coaching girls as their career goal. They use the girls' positions as "stepping stones" to boys programs. It is a sad but true fact. The positions pay the same, but are revered as "a step up". I have seen several cases of this and in the end, the coaches regretted this move. Some have had greater success coaching girls and a couple have even told me that they missed coaching girls because the girls were more coachable. I just think its sad that society views the girls as "training teams" and "stepping stones".
  4. I don't care what the score, what the player, what the coaches decision, NOBODY WHO IS A TRUE UK FAN SHOULD BE BOOING IN COMMONWEALTH STADIUM AT MY CATS! Boo at these things: 1. Bad calls by the refs 2. Tennessee 3. Florida 4. Spurrier 5. Spurrier some more LOL-Come on people, don't boo my CATS!
  5. I agree, he threw several passes so wobbly my mom could throw with more zip on it than that. (But, after all, my mom is one helluva woman....LOL)
  6. I don't see it. Hartline was solid & played smart, nothing flashy, but solid. He will get better and with the 2 5-stars QB's coming in next year, no way would I do Cobb like that. I like it like it is until Hartline plays bad. I think he is gutsy and will work very hard with the offense to get it better. And like I said, he played smart. I worshipped Woodson, still do, but he would have been sacked a few times yesterday where Hartline played within himself and got rid of the ball. The safety wasn't his fault, it was the O-lines....
  7. 1. The games should be at Belfry & Pikeville. They play real football at both schools, not Pseudofootball that they attempt at the other Pike Co. schools. No big schools from across the state will travel here to play anyone else no matter how much they pay them. 2. One night will always be played at Pikeville in the shadow of the big flag at CTB as long as they are sponsoring it. 3. The jerseys are a momento, meant to be worn for one game, not a season, then kept by the players as a keepsake. 4. Belfry can afford to buy another 30 jerseys so they can stand 80 on the sidelines and play 30 as usual. 5. If I were the Belfry fans I would take my candybars and flask in my pocket and not spend a cent at Shelby Valley....LOL 6. The game is at Shelby Valley because Virgil Osborne wanted it there. He is on the school board and the Pike Co. Bowl Committe I think. He is also so far up Mr. Wagner's tail he can't breathe right now. And HELLLLLO, it's a board seat election year in the county kids. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know how it all works!
  8. This RUMOR was put in a column in the Medical Leader. Everything you read is not true. While Collins-Stiltner may end up at Pike Central, I seriously doubt that Tussey will drive that far to Belfry. She would lose money doing that. She likely makes more driving a bus.
  9. Still teaches PE at WV. She is a PIONEER for Title IX in my book. She was a great PLAYER & COACH!
  10. Pairings & times anyone? Someone give us the scoop-favorites, etc.!
  11. BCG=2,300,000 in his first year and he is largely still unproven. MD=350,000 and is a proven winner at UK Do the the math..................that's why she got ticked and walked. She will make close to that at Texas w/base and camp $. She listened to Suze Orman and realized she was not "on sale". Go Mickie! Best of luck to you! YOU WILL BE MISSED!
  12. Best of luck to the KY girls this year. It is my understanding that the Indiana team has a GIANT that is awesome and will be a nightmare matchup. Where can the rosters for Indiana be found on the web?
  13. An invitation to KY-IN Allstar Tryouts is an HONOR........an HONOR that many players would kill for! If kids were invited but didn't want to attend, that is their choice, no matter what the reason, good or bad........ However, they should have had the decency and respect for themselves, the KY-IN staff, and other deserving players to inform someone of their decision not to attend. IMO a "no-show" in this event reflects poorly on the player, their parents, their HS coach, their high school, and the college program they may be about to enter into. A no-show IMO equates NO CLASS! :irked:
  14. Tomorrow is NCAA D-I signing day. Who is Haley Ratliff from Pike Central signing with?
  15. It depends on what you base your vote on-team accomplishments or individual ability. I have seen both play. Wall's team obviously fared betterand is is a super player, but based on what I saw Saturday night, Pettigrew is the superior player. Either would be a great choice!
  16. Micki & Co. use "UK Hoops" since the "Lady Kats" went by the wayside during Coach Mattox's tenure.........try to use Men's or Women's so the 2 are not confused on the thread title....
  17. Sorry it took me so long to get the answers, but I had to inquire when I got to the game. 1. The charity this year is the Jim Connor Memorial Scholarship Fund at Thomas More. He was the Thomas More AD that the Convocation Center is named for in which the game was held. He was also S. Laurel Coach Steve Wright's high school coach. He spoke fondly of him at the banquet. For many years, when the game was in Portsmouth, the charity was the Ronald McDonald House and the Southern OH McDonalds was one of the main sponsors. 2. The gear is not donated. It must be paid for. Girls got a game uniform, 2 t-shirts, shorts, and a v-neck pullover jacket. 3. Thomas More charges for the use of the facility. However, all of their game staff, donates their time-sports information, stats, etc. Their staff is GREAT! Hats off to their AD, Coaches, Sports Information People, etc.! 4. No one is paid for their labor, not even mileage. Workers are given shirts, jackets, etc. A great many people work all year long to make the event happen. Even the refs donate their labor. Some of them travel long distances paying their own way to donate their time. Coaches, game staff and comittee workers volunteer this for charity, many even taking days off from work to do this. 5. Overhead/expenses FYI...... a)Boys are brought in on Thursday, fed 7 meals plus the banquet, and are housed 2 nights. This includes 30 players (2 per room), about 6-8 coaches and the game staff needed to feed, supervise and coach them (about a dozen people). b)The girls are brought in on Friday, fed 4 meals plus the banquet, and are housed 1 night. This includes 30 players (2 per room), about 6-8 coaches and the game staff needed to feed, supervise and coach them (about 4-6 additional people). c)Parents pay $12 for banquet tickets, but the banquet is a major expense because the 60 players and about 20 staff members must be paid for too. Thomas More's food service people cater this and the food was good. They "go in the hole" for this expense...... d)Players have to be transported to all practices and events. Two of Thomas More's buses and drivers were used for this. Again, this had to be paid for. e)The game was required to purchase a $1,000,000 liability insurance policy that covered all aspects of the game, the players traveling, spectators at the game, etc. I did not get a figure, but I know it was HEFTY-like all other insurance we all have to pay! f)There will be $ left to donate to the scholarship fund. Randy runs a tight ship! g)There were meetings with potential sponsors this weekend. The game had no sponsor this year. It did have coverage on the local cable tv station and was broadcast locally. Several other media outlets also were in attendance, both tv & print. Any more questions? Again, if you are interested in helping out with the game you should contact Randy Ward. Volunteers like yourself are invaluable to the game!
  18. Again, you should get in touch with Randy Ward and join the committee. The only/first negative comments came from you. (See above) I think the KY team will be fine, the girls will have a great experience, and KY will beat OH AGAIN! Thanks for all of your help!
  19. If you are so "thrilled" to see 5 local kids get to play, why do you keep implying that some of them are not among the top seniors in the state? You are contradicting yourself and speaking from 2 distinctly different orifices!
  20. 1) The game is always the weekend after the Final 4, regardless of Easter. 2) Of the 15 players, they are in the Top 40 SENIORS in KY...maybe a couple are top 50. 3) While it may be easy to get a business to sponsor 15 players and 2 coaches, this event has 60 players and 10-12 coaches that are fed, housed, and clothed. (15 boys KY, 15 boys OH, 15 girls KY, 15 girls OH). You seem to have all the answers. you should contact Randy Ward, the game director and provide your input!
  21. A couple of these questions I do not know the answer to as they are not "my department". However, I will ask my superiors and post in the next day or 2 and reply back. They are all good, legitimate questions.....
  22. Queen was invited. She declined because she is going on a trip with her family that weekend. If there are players that you think were deserving that are not on the roster, chances are that they were invited but declined. That weekend is Easter weekend and also Spring Break week for many school systems. PM me if you have a question. I can answer them all about the players selected. However, I do not feel that is appropriate to reveal if a player was a "1st 15 pick" or an "alternate". The fact is that the committee had a list of about 40 players rank-ordered by position and thats how players are invited. FYI to answer a few other posts: Players are required to get a sponsor because all game proceeds go to CHARITY.............It is a CHARITY GAME. However, it is not yet as big as the KY-IND game and some financial assistance is needed. The kids are housed and fed and get about $300 worth of gear to keep. I hate it when anyone is misinformed.............
  23. Agreed, Marla called a GREAT state tourney. She will be one of those like Tiny Napier & Lisa Mattingly that will rise FAST if she chooses to pursue this to a higher level. She can be calling the Women's Final 4 and WNBA games in 5 years if she wants to......SHE'S THAT GOOD! Way to go Marla!
