Has it really been successful? Attendance has not been great, I don't think that it has been made the event that is should be.

 

Maybe Louisville has to many irons in the fire.

 

To answer you repetitive question: I think it would be better in BG because it would be a bigger event, more publicity, less competition, a smaller facility, but still plenty big enough.

 

Other then the drive, that everyone is concerned with, both to Louisville and BG, I think most fans would come away with a better experience in BG over Louisville.

 

As for the night life argument, I don't think that holds water for most, if not 99% of the people that would be attending the Championship game.

 

A lot of good points are being made. Nothing has said about the factor weather on attendance in the December championships. It might be

fun to go to the games, but I'm sure a lot of folks just don't want to sit through hours in extreme cold (without the possibility of a trophy deer) in most cases.

 

I see it less about location and more about weather.

I'm sure there will be suites in the new expansion, but I doubt you can see Churchill downs from there :lol:

 

The suites are nice there but I was mainly referring to the large field length grouping area that has first class ammenities such as couches, big screens and those ice cream cones that are monumental. I'd guess it is a 15,000 square foot open area for some good meet and greet times.

We did it in '75 it was too far then too.

I say move it to Lexington. Uk should try to get it.

I still like the rotating system...Hold it at Western 1 year, Eastern 1 year, Commonwealth 1 yr and Papa Johns 1 year...Then noone has a complaint about the distance...I know in Tn, they changed the venue from Nashville to Murphreesboro a few yrs back and from speaking to some people familiar with it, they seem to think it was great move and it was doing even better at the smaller venue in terms of being a bigger deal and attendance has actually been just as good and even better in some years...

Until Commonwealth or Hangar Field gets field turf, it won't happen. They can't sustain six games in two days.

It's not 4+ hrs from NKY, I do know that. I made the trip back in April and it was like 3hrs and 15 to the Levee.

You can get from BG to the levee in 3 hours and 15 minuets easily. You wouldn't even have to go 70.

 

I'll be making that drive Tuesday afternoon, except I have to get to Blue Ash. That will take no more than 3.5 hours.

Anybody can get these seats, they are the black seats located in the second tier behind Louisvilles sideline. They cost only a small amount more, maybe $5 or $10 max.

According to Mapquest, it takes three 3 hours 35 minutes. Add in any gas stops and it's like 3 hours 45 minutes. With that long of a trip, you're also more likely to stop and eat somewhere before the game.

 

I can tell you, it takes 20-25 minutes to get to Blue Ash from my house. We live about 6 minutes from the Levee.
