Unless you are in far Eastern Kentucky, how is this an argument? Luckily those in Western Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky do not complain about making a 4 hour trip every single year.

If you're in NKY, it's a HUGE argument--as in, double the drive time.

And in WK / South-Central Kentucky it is is huge because it is a lot less of a drive (for once).

BF I'm sorry but there's more to KY than NKY, broaden your horizons. I'm sorry that NKY people's drive time will have to be 3 hrs instead of an hr and a half, when the rest of us for over 20 years have been driving 4 hrs. I'm sorry but anyone in NKY or Louisville get no sympathy from me. See how the other half lives for once

I like it in Louisville at Papa Johns Stadium because although not cozy it roomy and I can spread out with the group I go to with.

Weather would really not be a factor as both cities are close and have relatively the same weather. I do stay for all the games I just dress properly.

Although the other poster said it was all about him, it is really all about me and I want it in Louisville.

 

 

 

 

Seriously, I could care less about the stadium or night life or anything else, I love going to watch 6 football games in two days and that is the focus for me.

I would love to see it go back to a rotating schedule around the state.

These are all wonderful sentiments. From locker rooms to stadium seating.

It's still about the money and where it will generate the most revenue for the KHSAA and keep the Coaches Clinic attendees entertained. Remember, Frankfort dropped out of the bidding process because they could not handle all the games when there were only 4 classes. All 6 games must be played in 2to 3 days at the same venue according to the KHSAA.

Again, you're narrowing your focus too much here. You're trying to paint my opinion as being all about me or this region--you are incorrect in doing so. If it was moved up here, or to far EKY, you'd be screaming bloody murder. So the "fairness" isssue doesn't work. To me, this is about the vast majority of the state. It's anything BUT a local issue.

 

As for sympathy, based on history, I think we hardly need it. :lol:

As someone who has made the pilgrimage from Belfry to Louisville multiple times for the State Finals here is my input on the matter:

 

- The first thing we have to consider is this is not a UL vs. WKU deal. Nobody cares about the campuses attached to the stadiums. the sole reason for consideration specifically deals with facilites, seating, and ammenities... I am sure if Campbellsville High School had a 14,000 seat stadium with a synthetic surface and the ammenities of these venues they would be considered just as well.

 

- EKY people would drive to Paducah to watch one of ther teams play. Has a Mountain School ever had a disappointing attendance in Louisville? Although it is unfair to these schools that they are expected to drive an extra hour, I honestly don't think anyone would mind as long as they know that there will be hotel rooms and parking once they get there.

 

- For NKY people who are upset about the added 1.5 hr driive, I am sorry but I can't side with you considering the 4.5 hour drive (which used to be much more) is a non-issue to me.

 

- Playing off RockPride's comments earlier about the best teams having the best facilities. What if 1A through 5A were hosted at WKU and the 6A Title game could be played every year at PJCS? It is worth noting that when you consider geography for the 6A game it is almost relative to consider that the entire section of the state East of I-75 does not have a 6A school.

 

- Let's remember who these games are for: the high school team which earned their right to play on the field and experience the best setting possible. I personally think that WKU would be more intimate. When people recall of their favorite games they almost certainly speak of playing at a "packed house", "loud", and the "environment".... the venue at WKU would certainly provide this better for all schools not named Trinity and St. Xavier who aprobably could fill Commonwealth for a game under the right circumstances.

 

Additionally, keeping who this game is intended for in mind. Nightlife is a complete non-issue. The traditional weekend for teams travelling in consists mainly of lots of rest, a team meal, and watching the other games.. I am fairly certain Bowling Green offers this option.

I cant really speak for the people of WKY, but I haven't heard anyone scream bloody murder because the games are already 4 hours away in Louisville. We dont really have to worry about the games moving to NKY or EKY, because there is no where to play the games at these places. Even if there was... I would be yelling "Road Trip!".
