Actually, I think Danville is in the Center of Kentucky. I'm still saying, throw up a big stadium around the Hart Co. and Larue Co. area... then you should have equal distances from EKY, WKY, and NKY... and it's closer to Louisville then BG.

 

Of course no one would actually build a Football Stadium in the middle of no where to play only KHSAA Football Championships... But just for arguing's sake.. I think that area would be the most "equal".

Seems to me the people who don't want it moved are for selfish reasons, IE. "It's a longer drive for me." I care, the rest of the state has made 4 hr drives for years, get over it. Or "There's not as many bars." I care, if your motivation for going to the state game is Bars, that sounds like a you problem.

What is the real benefit of moving it then.....it is a tremendous weekend even here in our city, with ample parking, hotel space, dining, etc....right there near the venue....WKU can not offer that, especially if school is still in session.

I think we can all agree Louisville is a fine place for hosting the event. But in case it has to be moved, BG offers more than enough.

 

The state football finals is not a big tourist attraction across the Commonwealth. To think BG is not large enough to host it is nonsense.

Barring something happening that the Finals HAVE to be moved from PJCS, I dont see any other venue in the state hosting them (or a reason for it to be moved). UK would be an obvious substitute, if only they had turf.

Not much nightlife, although nearby Lebanon does have a few beer joints that are, shall we say, colorful. And if you want something of a higher class, maybe you can get a free sample sip at the Maker's Mark distillery just down the road.

I definitely agree. It's not like we're talking about Sweet 16 crowds here. There is plenty to do in BG. To say there's not is an insult to the city and the explosive growth it's experienced over the past two decades. Other than a few diehards, people without a rooting interest don't show up to the state FB finals the way they do the Sweet 16.
