I would have no problem what so ever. Rotate all the championships to various locations.

To that end, can someone please save this thread in the Classic forum so that when it is suggested that we move the Sweet 16 to Louisville's new state of the art arena in 2010 we can monitor the consistency? Thanks in advance.

 

 

I dont see a problem with the Boys State Championships in Louisville... thats only an hour and a half drive as opposed to a 2 1/2 hour drive!

 

Seriously though, moving the Basketball to Louisville wouldn't be that bad of a deal as long as they moved it back to Rupp every other year. I think that is what FC is getting at.

Jeez, what does it take to be a city in your definition? A town to me is like, 10,000 or less. I'm guessing if it's not Louisville or Lexington, to you, it's not a city.

I agree with different venues...we all should travel willingly to support our teams...no matter what the distance!

I just could not disagree with you more. Of what you noted, 10+ storied buildings is pretty much the only thing Bowling Green doesn't possess. The others are not on the scale of Louisville, but it exists.

 

I think it's absurd to suggest that there are two cities in the entire state of Kentucky.

Bowling Green has a ten story building... it's located on WKU's campus. The Pearce-Ford Tower, and it has 27 stories to be exact. So there for, Bowling Green qualifies as a city in your book.

Ok, sorry. Not being from Louisville, BG, Lexington, or NKY, I personally don’t care where the games are held, I will go if my team is there. However, I do find it hard to empathize with arguments about driving distances and night life since the main point in my mind is about the boys playing football. Obviously, I’m not going to suggest they play somewhere that isn’t suitable, but there are many fine college stadiums in KY and as far as I’m concerned many one of them are suitable.

Fair comments. And as I pointed out in one of my earlier posts ( I think:D), I can understand the people from eastern Kentucky not being happy with a move to BG. And no matter where the KHSAA decides to put the championships, there will be some winners and some losers. Which is why I ultimately think it will come down to 1. the money (which unfortunately has to be a consideration), 2. which city/university is willing to work the hardest to make the event as special as possible for the teams participating, and 3. which city/university makes the event as fan friendly as possible (I'd love to see the host city/university provide heated tents that would allow fans, at no additional charge, to leave the stadium but be able to re-enter, purchase some lunch, purchase merchandise from vendors and watch the games on tv while they are in heated tents. That way if you wanted to only watch the first and third game, you could get out of the cold for the second game and relax in the heated tents. Sort of like an outside Brown and Williamson room that all fans could use).

 

I'm starting to see the light some if they do that stuff:thumb: I like Louisville but honestly it's going to be an experience of a lifetime no matter which school has it.

If you'll re-read the discussion, you'll see that I was trying to emphasize that this is an issue for many parts of the state--not JUST NKY. Yes, as I said, it is a NKY issue...and other places too. But hopefully, we'll be in the Ville for years to come. Otherwise, I (and probably many more) will be forgoing ticket and concession purchases and watching it at home on ICN.
