I will not support this! Too big of a disadvantage for teams from the East.

I believe the games should be played in a more central location..BG is way to far out of the way...Especially when three teams from NKY will more than likely be in the finals...:D

The amenities far surpass anything WKU could provide for in game pleasure. As far as after the game, Louisville is the biggest city in Kentucky, I've stayed at both more than enough and you cannot beat the hotels, restaurants and nightlife that the Ville' brings to this event. I cannot wait to see WKU pitch for this.

 

Technically you are wrong. Louisville is not the largest city in KY. Independence, KY 41051 is geographically. Louisville's actual city limits are not as large as they appear. Either way, I still love Louisville. I would hate it if it moved to BG. Not because of anything against BG and how nice their fans are to us Bluebird fans......I just like the ability to head down to the games each year. I have gone several years with friends and family when HHS was not even in the finals. When it's only 1.5 hrs away, you can do that. When it's 4+ hours away, not worth the trip unless you got a dog in the fight so to speak. I am sure that BG is really nice and I would actually love to go to the Corvetter museum sometime, but not for state football games.

Seriously though, I think it would be great for the city of Bowling Green, but I’m not sure the larger metropolitan area (Louisville, NKY, and Lexington) schools would support such a move. I also think that the excitement of teams/players that haven’t played in a large stadium like Papa Johns would be lost if the games were played at WKU.

It is bad enough that it is L-ville, I don't think it will ever move to BG because of its geographic location. The state finals have more people that come from nothern Ky and Eastern KY this would not be a good move by the KHSAA.

Well, luckily for them, not too many teams from western side of KY make to state each year. So look at it this way, we're saving you gas money by beating you. I hear gas is going up to 5 or 6 bucks today due to Hurricane.

How far is it from Louisville to Bowling Green? 1 1/2 hours?

 

People from Central/Louisville/NKY area should not be complaining about driving distance. Many from the west of the state drive 4 hours every season to the Ville for the finals. Only legit claims for driving distance should come from far Eastern Kentucky that get the shaft no matter what.

 

If you want to argue amenities and entertainment, fine. But with no more people that go to these games, Bowling Green has more than enough to accomodate.

I would love a move to Western ... it would provide a better atmosphere, in my opinion, and I'm sure Bowling Green has a good case to make the finals more of an "event" than it is in Louisville.

Trust me, it would be easier for me if it stayed put. I don't actually have to go anywhere. The fact that EKY or NKY folks seem to forget that they aren't the only peope in the world that matter is what bugs me.

 

For the record, Trinity is my team and I live in Louisville. The "beating you" comment was in poor taste in that sense.

Theres alot of folks west of I-65 that would also make the trip if it wasn't so far, like it is now in Louisville...With that said, I do like the Papa Johns venue but a smaller, more intimate setting would also be cool, as far as being a good HS football atmosphere, something it lacks now...I remember years ago, it rotated between Lex, Richmond, BGreen...Can't remember if Louisville was in the mix back then or not, but, I liked it being at different locations.. Each gave you a little something different..

Some that have never been there have in their minds that BG is in far Western Kentucky. Do not let the name of the campus fool you. BG is more central kentucky than west.

Would this mean the largest city in the state, with the most high school student athletes, would not host one state final?
