Ok UK fans defend this one...

I understand the exposure question--but playing in the SEC UK gets a lot of exposure, even with the Lincoln Financial games. Most of the UK and SEC players are from the south. On Saturdays in those markets LF is just like a national game. As for Joker, I just want to ask you one question and give me a straight answer: Do you really only think he's an okay recruiter? Didn't he win an assistant coach award after the 2006 season. Maybe he can't go out and rake in 4 and 5 star recruits but he's proved to be a pretty astute judge of talent as many of his 2-3 star recruits have proved to be better than advertised.

I don't think any more or less of him than I do the guys that have done a great job developing 2 and 3 star recruits at UC. It's great as a jumping off point, but it's playing in quick sand in terms of sustained success.

If turning those guys in to All American types doesn't start producing better prospects on the recruiting trail, the end point is usually pretty clear. A pretty good team every few years, and a lot of middle of the road or worse seasons in between...

Which will get us nowhere except being a middle of the pack SEC team like we were this year...Maybe its just me, but I want even more for this football program. We have something going right now, and have people across the nation recognizing us a little bit from last season. And now we have a chance to keep building on that and keep getting recognition across the country, and yet we decide not to take advantage of that. Its stuff like that, that could help us move from just 2 to 3 star recruits, to maybe 3 and 4 star recruits and so forth. Which in turn could lead to us being better than just middle of the pack (which is average) in the SEC.

UL fans aren't you glad last years game wasn't a nationally televised game. Might be a good thing for you if this years isn't televised either, at least not til Stevey K can start winning some games over there. :D

Well apparently the contract isn't written that way, or else I'm sure Jurich wouldn't have asked Barnhart. So I have to say tough for those poor little Cards. :D:D

My Cards are not poor, neither are they little. The Gator Bowl and winning the Orange Bowl helped put revenue in the coffers. Jurich, the National AD of the Year, is not asking Barnhart to consider the Monday night slot because they are not discussing the game's time personally with each other; they are talking with ESPN - who, incidentally would like the game played on Monday night. I'm listening to the Lachlan McClain sports' show on WHAS at this very moment and this was the explanation given by Lachlan. Apparently, that time slot would have been great for both UL and UK since Florida State jumped at it for three years in a row. I don't care when it is played because I will be there cheering for my team. Go Cards!

My post was in response to Ram. By the way that time slot seems to have done wonders for Florida State the past few years. :p

I don't think that I mentioned UC in this thread. However, I deeply respect what their staffs have done. Let's face it though, middle of the road teams are better than what UK fans are used to and Brooks and company have done a very good job at UK--and Joker is a BIG part of that. Do you disagree? Is Joker only mediocre--again, I only as for an honest answer. As for you FC, middle of the pack in the SEC is better than average. Again, I'm going to say if this is Brooks' call I support him and if Barnhart is trying to prove a point I'm against it. Am I wrong in that? Hasn't Brooks earned the benefit of the doubt?

I think Jokes has done a good job so far, but he still has a lot of room to improve.

For the most part, we aren't too far apart on this issue...

I can agree with that. I think Brooks needs to speak up and say what he thinks. My guess is this is a Barnhart power trip. I don't think Brooks is scared of Norfolk State.

Gametime, I do have to ask you this. Do you trust Brian Kelly to pick the Bearcats up from their NCAA doormat status? Why should us UK fans trust Brooks any less? Be honest.

Am I mistaken but didn't UofL ask that the bb game be moved and UK went along? If that's true then obviously, some folks are mistaken when they think that Barhardt is never willing to compromise Again, I'm not sure of the bb circumstance but that's how I remember the move from December happening

I'm not sure why UL fans want to see their team get beat in such a great time slot.

To gain serious national exposure. Oh nevermind...

With Kentucky's schedule, each win is critical. Kentucky, in the SEC, will never have any problem gaining serious national exposure if they beat the teams on their schedule.

Here's the thing. How many more viewers will tune in on Monday vs. Sunday? Out of those viewers how many are undecided, big time Division I recruits? Out of those how many are suddenly going to say, "Hey if I spurn Florida and LSU I'll get to play Louisville on Labor Day on ESPN." Get real, it ain't many. What do you think go more media attention last season: UK's upset of UL, the FSU-Miami game, or the UK upset of LSU? I'll go ahead and ranke them. 1. UK-LSU 2. UK-UL 3. FSU-Miami.

UK-LSU was on CBS so any given game on CBS will "out-rate" a similar game on cable. And if I'm not mistaken, FSU-Miami was on ESPN and UK-UL was on ESPNC, so FSU-Miami would have received a higher rating for the same reason as the first case.

Bottom line, to turn down the primetime slot for Norfolk State is stupid. They accepted an ESPN Thursday night slot last year to play South Carolina--so they're more worried about Norfolk State than South Carolina?

It's got nothing to do with Brooks here. It's about the Admin playing games with getting to the end result with less resistance. I think Brooks has done a fine job in a very tough situation. With that said, to ever rise above 8 wins, recruiting still has a long way to go...

Yeah but you HAVE TO WIN those games first. I believe CBS does not select or reserves the right to change their SEC Game during the season. I think 2 of the 3 CBS games were not originally scheduled. Basically, if they were 2-5 at the time, they would not have been on CBS. Also, remember College GameDay coming to Lexington. THAT doesn't happen if you don't win games. So, yes, they will alway have SOME exposure but you can greatly increase that by winning.
