February 26, 200818 yr We both know that with their conference affiliation that that won't happen. Believe it or not I would actually prefer to play on Monday night. UL will be favored but I think UK is more than capable of beating them this season. If this decision is coming from Brooks--then I have a harder time finding fault with it. He was widely derided for moving the game last season but he did what he felt was best for his program and the UK win on ESPNU helped the program more than a loss would have on ESPN. Like him or not Brooks has done wonders for the program. However, if this is just Barnhart trying to get under UL's skin then he should let it go. I think Brooks needs to address this and either man up and say he wants the extra day or tell Barnhart to back down. I don't disagree with that...
February 26, 200818 yr Florida, LSU, Tennessee- CBS All but one of these was a regional broadcast I believe. It was not shown nation wide...
February 26, 200818 yr It's simple economics in the big time world of college sports. UK doesn't want to play along, so they will stay at the bottom of a massive barrel. Good for you. Go Cats... That says nothing to answer the question I asked you.
February 26, 200818 yr All but one of these was a regional broadcast I believe. It was not shown nation wide... I know my uncle in San Diego saw all three of them.
February 26, 200818 yr As sad as that may sound, that's the way it's always going to be. UK is never going to outrecruit the schools I listed. Why? I mean who would ever thought Florida could start out recruiting us in basketball, or just any SEC team. However it has happened, so why is it so impossible to believe that it can happen in football for us? I mean right now we got people across the country noticing us a little bit with this past season. So we need to keep building on that, and playing on National TV would help that. I mean recruits as GT said would like seeing UK playing on TV. I mean with kids now a days, don't you think they would want to go somewhere where they will be on TV getting exposure? If they see UK on National TV, it might get them to think about UK a little bit more. Its stuff like that, which would help us catch up in recruiting with these other SEC schools. If you think its impossible to out recruit these other schools in the SEC. Then what is the point in us even caring about football season, because that means we would never be nothing more than a middle of the pack SEC team AT BEST. Which does not make me happy, because I thought we were wanting UK to try to start becoming one of the better football programs to go along with our storied basketball program.
February 26, 200818 yr That says nothing to answer the question I asked you. If he really believes an extra day for Norfolk State is more important than the MNF Labor Day slot, I grossly underestimated the man running UK athletics...
February 26, 200818 yr If he really believes an extra day for Norfolk State is more important than the MNF Labor Day slot, I grossly underestimated the man running UK athletics... Two replies, but you still haven't answered my question.
February 26, 200818 yr Two replies, but you still haven't answered my question. I must have missed the question mark somewhere...
February 26, 200818 yr DJ Woods and Isiah Pead would be the two late commitments with serious talent that UC got in on late because of exposure. I really hope you enjoyed the last two. It might be another 30+ once again... Actually, I did. While UK is far from a national power they are finally at the level where they can send out enough SEC level athletes to compete. Unless I've grossly misjudged Joker Phillips as a recruiter I think they're at a place where they can be a consistant 5-8 game winner--honestly for UK that is a HUGE step. I don't think it'll be another 30 years. Like I said I think it comes down to a Barnhart/Brooks call. If Barnhart made it, there's no reason for it. If Brooks made it, he's earned a chance to make his own calls.
February 26, 200818 yr I must have missed the question mark somewhere... You know what I was asking. Let me help. I'll put the question mark with it this time. Do you honestly believe that Barnhart is more interested in ticking off the UofL crowd than looking out for the best interest of the programs he oversees?

And I don't think Joker was the lead recruiter for Woodson, Woodyard, Burton, Tamme and so on. I'm not saying turning down these games will doom UK, but they are limiting chances at exposure. That's never a good thing in this BUSINESS. End of story...
February 26, 200818 yr And I have to say tough for the poor little Wildcats. All I heard last year was that since the game was at UK, it was their prerogative to schedule it as they saw fit... well what's good for the goose is good for the gander. We just want to make sure we get the same result next season, as well :thumb:

Do you honestly believe that Barnhart is more interested in ticking off the UofL crowd than looking out for the best interest of the programs he oversees? Based on this decision, I can't say for sure. I thought last year was petty. I think this is just plain stupid...
February 26, 200818 yr Based on this decision, I can't say for sure. I thought last year was petty. I think this is just plain stupid... You may disagree with Barnhart, but I know that you, 02Ram54, and every other Louisville fan knows that answer to that question. And yes, I know you're not a Louisville fan.

I'm not saying turning down these games will doom UK, but they are limiting chances at exposure. That's never a good thing in this BUSINESS. End of story... I understand the exposure question--but playing in the SEC UK gets a lot of exposure, even with the Lincoln Financial games. Most of the UK and SEC players are from the south. On Saturdays in those markets LF is just like a national game. As for Joker, I just want to ask you one question and give me a straight answer: Do you really only think he's an okay recruiter? Didn't he win an assistant coach award after the 2006 season. Maybe he can't go out and rake in 4 and 5 star recruits but he's proved to be a pretty astute judge of talent as many of his 2-3 star recruits have proved to be better than advertised.
