Gardner Webb 84 Kentucky 68

Featured Replies

Bradley had a career high tonight with 54 points. Problem is he gave up 30 of those on defense.

That is one of the greatest posts ever :lol::laugh:

There goes two games of work for me!! I was gonna work the two games in Madison Square Garden! As I put the game on the air for my hometown

:eek: :scared::eek::madman::creepy::scared:

3 years ago Tubby wasn't losing to teams like Gardner Webb.

Ain't that the truth.

They actually are having a serious debate on TCP on if Gillespie lost the game on purpose to send a message:lol:

:dancingpa

Let's look at the bright side.....it saves them from losing two games next week.

Hopefully, a couple of weeks off will do them some good.

No, the bright side is that instead of wasting 3-4 days in New York, we now get to have some real practices to get ready for the regular season. This is the risk you take in practicing for little over 2 weeks and then going into the games that count. Kentucky wasn't prepared to play in back-to-back nights, and it showed. They'll be ready after another 2 weeks of practice.

To ALL the ones that are bashing and complaining after one loss.........

Should you jump off the bandwagon now (and there certainly are a few that are ) then that is fine.

One request -- Please don't come back on here and jump back on the bandwagon later when they are winning.

and.................Just how much longer are there going to be ones blaming OTS for any losses this year? Or next year or the year after that.....:lol:

:thumb: I agree.

Sports Information Director Marc Rabb said this was easily the biggest win of any kind in Gardner-Webb's athletic history.

"This is our Michigan-Appalachian State in football terms," Rabb said.

Since when did a game in November count for anything. I don't even think they should be playing basketball yet.

Everyone wanted adjustments and this and that. You don't implement a system by leaving it at the first sign of problems. Billy C will be fine and this team will be very competitive in February. You have to prove your point when you are implementing your system, and this type of game will help Billy C get there attention.

Also it was very apparent that UK had no legs under them. The announcers both nights talked about what rigorous practices UK had the day of the game. Again Billy C is trying to break these players down, so he can rebuild them. The toughest ones to do that with are seniors, everyone should realize this. Uk fans need to take a chill pill. Look at Ohio State and Michigan State and see that this type of thing happens early.

  You have no idea how hard it is to be a UK fan around here. Some of this stuff is great guys just great.

Awwwww....

I got back really late last night from the game and didn't have the chance to post what I saw from my viewpoint. I saw a team that was TIRED. Which leads me to think those pre-game practices are not such a grand idea. Gardner Webb ran a modified version of the Princeton, back-door offense, and the UK players, as well as Gillespie, looked lost. GW shot fairly well from the outside, but I don't understand why we didn't go into a 2-3 or a 3-2 zone. I understand that Gillespie wants to prove a point to Joe Crawford about practicing hard, but enough is enough. Thank the Lord for Alex Legion. At least he kept the game close. There were just over 19,000 fans at the game, which is almost as pathetic as the performance those fans showed up to watch. And yes, they did boo the CATS.

Uk and BCG will be fine.. UNC went thru the same things a few years ago. Obviously they got a proven Coach Roy, and we have a unproven Coach G. It turned out okay for them and I think it will for UK.

GO CATS!

Oscar Combs had a great point on the pregame. It doesn't and he understands what Billy G is saying about these games, BUT UK FANS will not put up with losing to the likes of a Gardner Webb and to them, the games against UNC, IU and UL ARE IMPORTANT and DO MEAN SOMETHING. So he best not take those games as just another game in Nov/Dec that doesn't mean anything or he won't be long for here.

I thought the man who has watched a lot of UK basketball and knows a lot about what goes on around UK basketball was right on with his comments.

The loss did not really surprise me, but how bad we got our butts kicked did. Coach G. pretty much foreshadowed the result with some of his comments after the exhibition games and the opening game. He mentioned that the offensive production in the Pikeville game was like "fools gold" and that UK would struggle when the competition got real. He was not happy with the defense Tuesday night even though Central Ark. shot in the 20% range, a result more from their poor shot selection and accuarcy than from UK's defense.

It's not going to be an easy process learning how to play the way he wants them to play.........and UK may take several more beat downs along the road.
