gametime
Unless they are sewing up loose ends with his replacement. Firing him without the replacement sewn up would be pointless and stupid. I'm glad I don't work for you. Talk about bad business...
98NCCalum
I'm glad I don't work for you. Talk about bad business... So you would suggest firing him without a replacement in mind? What if their #1 is unsure but K would be their #2?
98NCCalum
I'm glad I don't work for you. Talk about bad business... You and I both know professional sports are whole nother ball game. It is a business of broken contracts and doing whatever you can to get ahead, it's the nature of the beast.

The Scribe
They may not want it public yet because the replacement is involved with one of the playoff teams still alive.

I still don't see any point in not going ahead and firing the GM if that's the plan...
h.s.sportsrbest
Walt was in town last week, now what happened in there I can't confirm.

Krivsky is n't going to come back. Face it, in pro sports, it's the nature of the beast.

If you don't want the guy running the team, you fire him. Plain and simple. You don't screw around behind his back and then give him back the keys to the car. Where else has this happened and been a positive???

For the record, given your example, it could have happened thousands of times and we wouldn't have known about it. Right? So your question becomes impossible to answer. Here are simple facts: * Walt was in town and met with "some of the ownership group." Who was there exactly? Not sure. Someone met with him. * Wayne Krivsky still is the GM of the Reds. * Walt Jocketty is not the GM of the Reds, as I type this. Those facts are beyond debate, but what they mean, interpret on your own. letabrotherspeak
Who will be the next manager? If it is LaRussa, I wonder how Marty B would accept that? Secondly, the Reds would have one of the most expensive broadcast teams and management teams...and the players well....
h.s.sportsrbest
What if Walt took a position with the Reds like "special assistant" which would allow him to spend more time with the family this year. He could basically just do some special project work, a little scouting, and some consulting. Could you imagine anything making Krivsky more angry / uncomfortable?
