I think Joe Morgan has a nice ring to it also. The era of names you listed, is not very current. I may be wrong, but all of the names you listed, began as "Player Managers"....plus, how many since the mid '70's. Torre comes to mind instantly but I also believe, he began as a Player Manager and if not mistaken, took him 6-7 years, before he even had a winning record in a season.
