ladiesbballcoach Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 if your daughter or son had signed a LOI with VTech or is being recruited by them? My head says it shouldn't, but my heart is FAR from that reasoning. The anguish that the parents are going through is unimaginable to me. The fear they went through yesterday is mindnumbing to me.
stickymitts Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 By now, everyone should know that this type of thing can happen anywhere. I'm not sure you can protect your kids that much, although it would be nice.
mexitucky Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 By now, everyone should know that this type of thing can happen anywhere. I'm not sure you can protect your kids that much, although it would be nice. This is the second shooting on campus in two years.

Goliath Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 This is the second shooting on campus in two years. I believe this is two shootings within the last year.
STRIKE3 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I would certainly be concerned but I'm sure, security will be heightened and possibly, better than most collegiate institutions. I would tour the facility, with my child and discuss the safeguards, in place for student-athletes, during off time and study hours. Tragedies like this, can happen at any school and from this incident, I foresee many colleges and high schools, changing procedures for entrance and even being on campus.
spe690 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 In all honesty, this type of incident could happen at any campus in the country. It's a sad story...
UKMustangFan Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I'd strongly advise them against going there, although it would ultimately be their decision.
cshs81 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I believe this is two shootings within the last year. I dont' think its been two shootings on the campus. Back in August, I believe a guy shot someone then ran onto the VT campus to hide.
spe690 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I dont' think its been two shootings on the campus. Back in August, I believe a guy shot someone then ran onto the VT campus to hide. Correct!
Bart Fletch Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Well if I were about to attend VT, the first question that would cross my mind is do I want to walk around the campus being paranoid and in fear all the time? I would be misable and it would be hard to concentrate on my studies and athletics and probably get behind in both.
94 Camel Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I wouldn't be more scared of VT than any other college campus in the nation due to this shooting. The sad fact is that in today's society, a shooting is a threat at any place and at any time.
ladiesbballcoach Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 Another series of questions, how it would affect you to be assigned to the dorm that this started? The classroom building that so many lost their lives in? Can VTech ever use those buildings again?
