KHSAA to consider multipliers and success factors for football realignment - What might it look like?

Are we going to penalize public schools because they swept the boys and girls basketball tournaments?  Are we going to specifically penalize GRC for doing so?  Of course not.  Nor should we.  The whol

Are you sure about that or would it be 4A to 5A?

The KHSAA is completely incompetent. It’s time for a change, starting at the top.

Cov Cath will land in 5A, I don’t think there is any chance they land in 6A.

This is hearsay but I had someone that usually knows what is up that told me there was discussion among the Board of Control members that a team could only move up one class and not two, no matter the math.  That doesn't make much sense to me but neither does the multiplier instead of using success factors, and neither of them make sense when you account for 6A.

Trinity and CAL are the only two outliers and as we all know, the change does not affect 6A teams/Trinity.

I wish the KHSAA would have went to CAL and said "instead of us (the KHSAA) harming several smaller schools with no legal basis to do so, how about you volunteer to move up to 4A."

I understand that sounds silly to some, but it is better than what is being proposed.

Probably would have. I think CAL to 4A will be fantastic. But to think they did this just because of one school is hilarious, and it proves KHSAA is an unserious organization.

I would love to have a list or recording of the arguments and who out of 3A made them. I can think of a few off hand, randomly somewhere southeast of Barbourville and west of Harlan.

Most hilarious in this…and I’m no LCA fan…is that LCA is about to run roughshod over the very people that asked for this. See you at the next realignment lols! 1.35 for CAL, -1.35 for LCA this time!!! Gotta let some other folks win that tried real hard!!!!1

Could. Have. Just. Asked.

How come no one is upset about X in these threads? They all the things that are mentioned that seem to be unfair advantages.

There have been 19 seasons of 6A football state championships since the inception of 6-class football in Kentucky. Trinity has had 14 state finals appearances and has won 13 state championships. Male has had 7 state finals appearances and has won 2 state championships. St. Xavier has had 4 state finals appearances and has won 2 state championships. Scott County has had 3 state finals appearances and has won 1 state championship. Lafayette has had 2 state finals appearances.

If the goal here is to try to make it harder for successful programs to win state titles and easier for the less successful programs to win state titles, then it sure was not accomplished in 6A football, because there isn't a damn bit of difference made for any team that's been in the 6A finals in the last two decades.

And "unfair advantages"....well....as a magnet school, Male pulls in students from all corners of Jefferson County. And they've shown up in the 6A football finals nearly two times for every one time that St. X has.

6A Finals (winners listed first)
2007: Trinity vs. St. Xavier
2008: Trinity vs. Simon Kenton
2009: St. Xavier vs. Trinity
2010: Trinity vs. Male
2011: Trinity vs. Scott County
2012: Trinity vs. Pleasure Ridge Park
2013: Scott County vs. Meade County
2014: Trinity vs. Dixie Heights
2015: Male vs. Lafayette

2017: Trinity vs. St. Xavier
2018: Male vs. Scott County
2019: Trinity vs. Male
2020: Trinity vs. Male
2021: St. Xavier vs. Male
2022: Bullitt East vs. Male
2023: Trinity vs. Bryan Station
2024: Trinity vs. Ryle

Spot on.

4 Classes is/was the best version.

Better games throughout the playoffs.

I think the best social media post I saw was on X.  Someone asked how 1.35 multiplier was selected and the answer was it's the smallest number possible that would force CAL to move up a class. ?

That 1.35 number is rather intriguing. I really don't understand the rational. I'm late to the party and not going to read all 15 pages. Has that number been explained at all?

I don't believe the KHSAA has fully explained why they are "using an enrollment multiplier of non-public schools" so 1.35 is next level rabbit hole material.  However, I did ask Google about the significance of the number 135 and among other thing it is an Angel Number:

The number 135 frequently represents a message of positive growth, transformation, and personal independence in numerology, often encouraging the pursuit of life's true calling and, in some interpretations, representing a high, above-average IQ. It is also considered a Harshad number in mathematics and is found in contexts of spiritual reflection, such as the 135th Psalm.

Well I don't think anyone at the KHSAA has to worry about any of that "135 theories" in basic reflection of themselves. This seems to be another way of them trying to cover up the fact they messed up when they went to 6 classes. Trying to paint the privates as the bad ones. Idk, doesn't make any sense to me.

The 1.35 multiplier essentially creates a three-quarters equation when you compare public schools to private schools. Mathematically speaking the KHSAA's adjusted enrollment numbers would all fall out in the same order by giving the all the public schools a 0.75 multiplier and not touching private school enrollment numbers. Leaving the public school enrollment numbers untouched and multiplying the private school enrollments by 1.35 achieves the same effect.

1 ÷ 1.35 = 0.74074074

0.75 ÷ 1 = 0.75

That was what was meant in the tweet I posted earlier that said, "So according to KY, a public school kid is equal to 3/4 of a private school kid?" Because if 1 kid who's enrolled in a private school is the same as 1.35 kids who are enrolled in a public school, then by the transitive law of equality that means 1 kid enrolled in a public school only equals 0.75 of each kid enrolled in a private school.

So did the KHSAA abandon or discuss further using a multiplier to reduce the enrollment numbers of Title I schools?

What is accomplished by this? Does anyone think CAL won't win a 4A title. CCH can't win a 5A title? LCA can't win a 3A title? All the top private schools will still win. It doesn't matter what class they are in. I don't see what the point of it is.

CAL will have to go through Boyle County in 4A.
