This is a bit of a misinterpretation.  A few will be negatively impacted.  Some won’t like getting beat by 50 rather than 35. Some would like to have a shot at beating a more physically gifted team by playing stall ball. 
 

But that wasn’t my point. I was referencing the hordes of “fans” that I’ve observed over the years booing “boooorrriiiinnng” because that’s not what they want to see.  I’ve never been one of those, thank goodness.  I generally trust coaches to manage the game in a way that gives their teams the best chance of winning.  I very much enjoy watching a disciplined team that waits for good shots and hits free throws and pulls the occasional upset over a prohibitive favorite. 
 

And I know I’m in the minority. There are more folks in the stands who’d rather watch a track meet.  But that’s okay.  I’ll still spring for a popcorn when they present their BGP credentials.

The cost issue is valid and will have to be addressed in a lot of places. 

As for who is going to operate the shot clock... I've never been at a high school basketball game when a varsity team had only one coach on the sideline. In fact, there are usually 3-5. Make one of the coaches run the shot clock if you can't find reliable volunteers from the community. 

IMO, a lot of the opposition to the shot clock is just a "we've always done it this way" mentality. Time to move on.

Agree and how do you think that's going to go when theirs a judgment call on whether to reset the clock or not and it affects the game either way. Having a coach keep the shot clock is a bad idea all the way around.

AAU pressure. In certain areas of the country players are being persuaded to not play HS basketball and only play AAU which mirrors college basketball by using the clock and skirting NFHS rules on violations.

Precisely - no one made North Laurel stare at him as he stood there.  

I wonder if Mr Tackett might make an Executive Decision and move the timeframe up seeing as one of the most athletic teams in the last 30 years is using stall ball tactics?

Seen A LOT of complaints from the State Tournament this week about the need for a shot clock. Glad it’s coming.

I just got a bid to outfit our gym with shot clocks on both goals. 7500 dollars and we have to run electric to the clocks.

Anyone else getting bids yet?
