Definitely not a good look. However, at the same time I don’t think you really can move on and expect to find someone better. Similar type boat that Michigan was in with Jim Harbaugh before this last 3 seasons when he finally started to make strides to getting over the hump. First by beating OSU, then making the playoffs, and then eventually winning it all. Franklin seems to be making little steps forward, but now needs to show he can beat the top teams. 

I thought Penn St. got to fancy/cute with their running game in the first half, especially the drive that led to the first field goal. Penn St. put #77 at split end, sends him in motion as to use him as a pulling full back and ND stopped the rb at the 3. Just line up like you've been doing.

ESPN will not let anyone forget that "Notre Dame's kicking was ranked last in Div I football at the end of the regular season."  I am glad for Mitch Jeter because his injury early in the year led to to that and he needed some redemption.

Huge win for what Marcus Freeman is building at Notre Dame.  Irish coaches have a history of winning titles in their third season (or playing for them).

The title game will be a big hurdle, though, as I think the lack of a strong vertical passing attack is the Irish's big weakness.  The top of the bracket IMO was harder than the bottom half.  If I were the Irish, I'd prefer to play Texas than Ohio state, but that's just me.

I guess if you're the head coach it's all you, but he sure as heck didn't roll left and make a throw into coverage back to the right.

Arrington's son will be a Freshman there next year.

This team lost to Northern Illinois.  Crazy.

And this is why Notre Dame will remain independent as long as it makes them money.  The only challenge for them is if it becomes too difficult to schedule games because of the growing size of conferences and if those conferences elect to go to more conference games.  I see that as a bigger threat to force them into a conference than anything financially.

It's crazy how many football teams were independents in the early 1990s.  Examples were Penn State, Louisville, Miami, Florida State, Cincinnati, West Virginia, and others.

I think that loss was more self-inflicted than anything looking back.  In that game Notre Dame didn't play to Leonard's strengths and tried to turn him into a pass-only quarterback, which just killed the offense.  That's just not what he is.  Leaning more into his running is what turned the season around.
