O Cath is 14-0 playing in another state championship game. That doesn't happen by accident. (I remember a similar line of discussion in 2009/2010/2011 ... in relation to a team in Red and Black).

We have the two best teams playing for a State Championship. Neither team is going to blink. High hopes for a clean, injury-free game.

Mayfield won in 2010. Has OC ever won a Championship?

The difference for Beechwood is their speed is not subjective. Four of their players have track state championship medals documenting their speed including the state champion in the 100M, 200M and 4x100M relay. Not saying O Cath doesn't have speed. Beechwood has more and the facts that prove it.

With all that being said. If I’m Beechwood I would not sleep on Catholic’s speed. If you think Beechwood are the only ones with speed your crazy. Deron Crowe, Ebelhar, Edge, Atwell, Cam

I have to agree, now I know BW has speed and plenty off it and I am impressed how they handled LCA but OC definitely have a couple of studs in Atwell and Crowe these 2 have some serious size, speed and athleticism and number 1 isn't bad either, along with a few others...I do think this is one of the better state match ups..hopefully this will be as advertised...just the 3rd week in a row of exciting games to conclude 2024 season...I'm pulling for OC to bring home a semi west kentucky title, along with PT and Union County....

OCath was my prediction to win 2A before the playoffs began. 
 

Atwell and company will prove to be too much and will lead OCath to the promised land.

Seriously, pretty sure I know what speed looks like and who has it. You are missing the point. Meaning O Cath plays  North Hardin -- they had 2 guys at 11.08 or faster at the AAA state championship last year (Erdman obviously ran a faster 100 and 200). North Hardin had 2 guys running 22's in the 200 last year. Owensboro always has multiple fast guys as well.

Guess what? O Cath beat North Hardin like a drum. And beat Owensboro as well. They have seen athletes and speed.

In 2020 and 2021 there were a ton of people who thought LCA had more and better athletes. Heck, Beechwood was 14-0, gave up only 86 points going into the game and still picked by most to lose. What happened? The team with the perceived athlete advantage lost. 

O Cath has been #1 all year and has taken care of their business. I can assure you they didn't get here by being unaware of speed and great athletes.

Beechwood has great dudes, athletes, fast guys. But to say O Cath hasn't seen any other fast teams is factually incorrect and it isn't subjective.

Yeah but I believe Beechwood has better Football players. 

No doubt that Beechwood has tremendous track speed that correlates to good football players as well. OCath is not slow and they purposely scrimmaged Paducah Tilghman and put a team like North Hardin on their schedule because they don’t see a ton of speed in their district. This should be a great match up and I’m looking forward to this one likely being one of the best games of the whole weekend.

I think people are trying to say that they honk Beechwood has better players all around. I have seen OCaths scores this year. They score a lot of points. Friday will be a gear game! 

Is the Beechwood QB the starter from last year who lost at Mayfield - that dude was pretty good.  Atwell is beast mode - just a huge young man and can run it or throw it.  They got Owensboro’s big LB from last year Crowe who is about 6-2 215. He plays WR for Catholic.  Great athlete.  Carrico is a HUGE loss if he is out - great MLB and FB.  Owensboro had Catholic down 10 I believe in the 2nd half.  Catholic is susceptible to speed IMO this year.  They are NOT as good as last year’s team.  Tutt Carrico was an unbelievable athlete last year and they don’t have it.  I thought after watching them against an average Owensboro club they could struggle against a top tier athletic team, at least struggle to stop them.  I think Catholic will score - you just have to hope they won’t dominate you.   Beechwood will be the best team Catholic has seen since the Owensboro game.  I do root for Catholic and hope they can bring it home to Owensboro.

No offense, but last year was last year, this is this year. When you look at the schedules these two teams have played, and played in the playoffs, it appears Beechwood has played a far superior schedule than OC, now with that said, OC can't help that they are in one of the weakest districts in the state. But here's the best thing of all.  This game will not be played at the track and field venue at UK but at Commonwealth Stadium (I can't bring myself to call a football field a grocery store). I hope it's a heck of game, and with no injuries, I do think Beechwood wins, in a close game and OC is once again a bride's maid instead of the bride!

Have kind of felt many posters are convinced BW has played a much tougher schedule.  If that is convincingly true (and I don’t subscribe to that), does this reaffirm that RPI is just not an accurate tool?  OC has led 2A RPI for the whole year with an undefeated season with three 6A and three 5A wins with higher season long OWP and OOWPs.

Defense wins titles. Whoever’s shows up Friday will win. That simple to me and based on how the Beechies showed up on Friday night I’m liking the chances for a Beechie win.   Should be a great game and can’t wait to watch it!
