Tigerpride94 Posted April 11, 2024 Author Posted April 11, 2024 Those exceptions are Central and Western high schools, which both have a 75% threshold of students on free or reduced lunch.

This is actually a smart move. 4
Jumper_Dad Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 I get what you are saying, but it's a shame if a gifted child has to miss out on a potentially life changing education because his parents can't or aren't available to drive them 15 miles to a school better suited to them. Contrary to popular belief not just affluent parents think their children should have the opportunity to attend magnet schools.

Valid points, although I think JCPS' defense will be that these schools are optional to attend if they are magnet (correct?) so as a result it is not on the hook to provide transportation to them if it elects not to do so. Not sure if that would hold up legally but I can see them using that argument.

If you want your kid to go there, you have to get them there. 3
I gotta go to work Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 I believe in the Kenton County School District you can go to any of the schools you choose, but you only get bus transportation if you live in the boundaries of the "home" school. This seems similar. 2

Tigerpride94 Posted June 4, 2024 Author Posted June 4, 2024 70 TARC drivers were going to be laid off but now will drive for JCPS. 1 1

Oldercoach Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 So sorry to see that the poorest performing public school system in Ky (under state supervision multiple years) has 950 paid administraors (non-classroom personnel) making over $110,000 per year. I am shocked that this type of overhead level can exist and be tolerated in exchange for the educational futures of the youth of our state’s largest city. 1
Tigerpride94 Posted August 2, 2024 Author Posted August 2, 2024 Lawsuit over bussing issue from parents. Restraining order would cause new bus plan.
theguru Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 I read the article. If it is not one thing in JCPS, it is something else. I feel the same as I always do, get your kids and run, get out of JCPS if at all possible. 1
