I went to a game at Ludlow last season. I had never been before. It was their home opener and there was a big cookout beforehand. It looked like the entire community was there. It was great to see that interest and support for a school team. It also seemed like a very nice community to live in. I suspect this job will draw interest.

The Lagoon Saloon is across the street and owned by the same people I think.  The inside area is small but it is a great venue for outdoor music. 

Also, if you there there early on a Saturday in the summer, you'll probably be able to see Skyline Mike, Left Hand Jeff, Little Joe and Brother Thaddeus. The true GOATS of Yacht Club lore!

There’s been talk of Ludlow being on the up and up for a while. It’s finally coming true. The 1975 just opened on the corner by the stadium, showing a history for the athletics of Ludlow, while serving great food. The football field, along with the other facilities will be state of the art. The baseball field just go redone. Ludlow is growing as it should. If they could utilize the open space next to the river to build more housing, I could really see Ludlow becoming a place people move into for a long time. This job should get quite a few names, and very quality ones at that.

If you want to see a fun old school style homecoming, go to Ludlow's homecoming. Each class does a float and they have a competition. They bring the floats onto the track for everyone to see them. 

Lot of credit goes to Superintendent Mike Borchers, his staff, the Board of Education, and the community for all of their hard work and commitment to the kids in the Ludlow Schools. Don't worry.....there will be interest in this job. New district is very favorable.

Only name I’ve seen mentioned thus far is CCH grad and current assistant coach Alex Shelton. 

 

Gary Pence would be my front runner. Ludlow alumni, plenty of experience (asst. Conner, frosh HC Cooper). I believe he’s a teacher in the Covington School District.

Pence from Cooper would be my choice as well. Ludlow alum, was on the team that snapped the 30 game losing streak, and has been the Freshman head coach and a varsity assistant with Cooper for 9 years now I think. 
 

I said to use the Yacht club more for the rubbing elbows with the right people, not getting players to hang out there. I think a HC of a small school in a small town needs to be seen and needs to be approachable more often than not. Let the citizens see you take a Sunday stroll down the main drag or playing in the park with your kids. Also have time to meet with people that are really interested in the program.

Whoever the coach may be, I hope they realize what a gem they will be coming into. There is no better time to build a foundation. I  expect good things to come from the panthers football team for many years.

I think Gary Pence would be an excellent choice too but he is a new daddy and I wonder if that plays into the calculation. 

Coach Woody Mcmillen has been on staff at Ludlow for a few years and is the current baseball HC and a teacher. Would think he would probably be of interest?

I haven’t spoken to him since his wedding, but I do know he put in for it last time it came open. I hope he gets it, I believe he can do something with that team.
