Hello everyone!!  We're back!!  Sorry we took a week off, but I was in South Bend watching my daughter get engaged and then my Irish beat Clemson!  But we are coming back with the best game in the state and you can watch this huge game on (859) Sports Radio!!!

I have to ask this question.  How many state titles has Scott County won?  The reason I ask is that everyone talks about this offensive scheme like they are some juggernaut that nobody can beat yet I don’t remember many titles won.

I would like to reiterate that I am not trying to be sarcastic here, would like honest answers.

I believe they have a couple Big Boy state titles. When they have the OLine, horses and the QB they can run that offense really really well. One thing that sticks out to me about Scott Co is that every skill position is a JR or younger. Highlands is young as well....But to ask a sophomore QB to run that offense and not make mistakes on the road in the playoffs is a big ask. It will be interesting to see how he does. I think this game will be a close Highlands win.

Scott County has played in 3 title games winning one. Here is an interesting tidbit about 4a/6ateams not named Male, St. X, or Trinity winning the State title since 1990. All were the Cardinals and all ran the wing-T offense. George Rogers Clark Cardinals in 1991, Nelson County Cardinals in 1996 and the Scott County Cardinals in 2013.

Male, X or Trinity have won every other big school state title in Kentucky over the past 35 years since 1987.

He was a starter as a freshman so he has experience. Running their offense isn’t exactly taxing for a QB once they get the footwork down. 
 

As someone mentioned before about how many state titles they’ve won. When your road to a state title goes through Trinity, Male and St X that is a tough road. Douglas being in their district and playing districts in the first rounds of the playoffs hasn’t helped either.

I believe just one, and played in two or others. Which keep in mind the majority of those years they were playing in 6A. So they had to get by the Louisville powerhouses in order to win stats titles and or even get to the state Championship. They got bumped down to 5A now last realignment when Great Crossing was built and took away some of their enrollment. Which Great Crossing being built definitely took away some of their talent base. 
 

For reference I think Highlands has more talent than Scott County. However, Scott County is just so good at what they do. That I think Highlands will struggle to stop them. Which I think Scott County will have a  hard time stopping Highlands too and should be a high scoring game.

Nobody is saying that. Regardless of the number of state titles they've won, they've competed very well in 6a while they were playing with the big boys. The only point I think people are trying to make is that the type of offense they run, and how well they run it, brings a unique set of problems that makes them difficult to prepare for. Not that they are a juggernaut or unbeatable.

If the 'Neers pull it off it... definitely.

Highlands has a few coaches on staff that know the wing t style offensive from their days of playing at HHS back in the early 90s. If you understand it, then you can stop it. Those coaches do coach the defense. This is going to be a great game not to miss.

This should be a great game.  Like most, I think this is going to be a pretty high scoring game ... probably in the neighborhood of 70+ points scored.

Well it's so hard to pick and we have committed to HHS and we can't back out on that.  But I'll say this, if SK can pull it off, we will follow them to the next round.

That's great to hear.  I'm a fair distance away, but it's good to see local media committing to the schools in their area.  Keep up the good work.

Honest question here, but do you happen to know from those guys if Coach Duffy ran the Delaware system or not?  I know he had them in more of a two wing set, often times shitfting and motioning to a wing, fB and set back. All of the backs were also in 2 point/up stances and while at Highlands was a heavy 20’s (Buck), 30’s (Power) and some 80’s (Belly) series 

Later on at Henderson when he had Duffer at QB, they were in a lot of two wing, two split looks (flexbone look) and , in Delaware terms, were more versed in the 40’s (Veer) and 80’s (Belly) while also still being a 20’s and 30’s series team as well.
