St. Peter's 85 Kentucky 79 OT (NCAA First Round)

Featured Replies

Final sad end to the season. Played terrible defense shot only 66% from the line and 1-6 in OT and St. Peter's made their FT's. Game over!

Up 68-62 and you've got the ball.  They go to a matchup zone, no timeouts are called, and we end up in overtime.  I put this loss mostly on Cal.  Free throw shooting was bad, but that loss should

  • It won’t be popular, but I think @John Anthonyhas been spot on about it. Cal has been an elite recruiter most of his career. When he doesn’t get the top 1-5 guys, he struggles. Too many teams are too

That’s what the end of an era looks like.

One can only hope.

Hand it to Saint Peter's, they came to play.  They shot extremely well from outside, and they just looked like they had a concept of what an offense is and executed it  I don't know what Kentucky was doing offensively, but it didn't look good.  Then you add all the other things to it, and you get this.

This was a HORRIFIC loss.  I don't know that I'd call this the beginning of the end for Cal - we may ultimately look back at that being several years prior - but it's probably the middle of the end.  Everything that he had working for this team fell apart over the last few weeks, and culminated with a legitimate title contender taking their worst tournament loss in the history of the program.

Well that sucked! We have seen other top programs and blue bloods have this big upset in the first round happen to them over the years. UK always seemed to avoid this big upset in the first round, at least in my lifetime.

I love seeing the big upsets, but it definitely sucks when it happens to your team.

Congrats to Saint Peter’s you played great and made all the big time times that needed to be made.

Wow!  Not really much else to say.   That's why this tourney is so much fun.

Has the ink dried on Kenny Payne's deal with Louisville yet? ?

Anyone still want to debate me on if he’s superstar dependent or not?  Freelance 5th year guys, and developmental guys aren’t what made Cal.

No timeout again for the Hall of Famer, can’t wait for the excuse team to charm in on here, give Cal another raise and redo the lifetime contract with more incentives. What an embarrassment and joke!!!

Folks, this team just isn't as good as people thought they were.  They were never going to win the tournament with the talent on this roster. And the most talented player on the team watched almost all the last 6 minutes of regulation.

This reminds me of the Bengals leaving Joe Mixon on the bench for 3 big short yardage plays in the Super Bowl.  Paul Brown said when you get to the key moments in the game look for players not plays. The players we needed on the floor were watching the last 5 minutes of regulation in the game.

Cal's loyalty to certain players has hung him time and time again. It hung him with the Harrison twins and it hung him with Grady and Brooks tonight.

The crazy part is Saint Peters was known to struggle on the offensive end and be great defensively. However, there offense sure look sharp tonight and they executed it almost to perfection. Obviously helps when you are making your shots from three too.

Yuck !

That’s a terrible loss. Plenty of blame to go around. From the coaches to everyone but Oscar and Toppin. Just a horrendous loss.
